Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Sat April 5th is the next Jason Fisher Memorial Tournament. I'll be taking sign-ups starting at 5 at the Trinity Center Ramp. $40.00 entry fee gets you a $5.00 Smallmouth Lunker and a $5.00 LM entry. Bring kids! I'll have a separate weigh-in for the kid's biggest fish, and I'll have some great tackle box prizes for all kids who fish. This is a fun tournament and it supports a great cause, so give me a call 530-623-4352.
      City: Weaverville

Tips: I got out today for the first time in what seems like months. Even though the water has cooled from a couple of weeks ago, the fish have moved pretty shallow and are munching crankbaits. I wish it hadn't taken me so long to figure that out. Now you know where to start.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Launched from Ladd's at 8 a.m. and man was it cold. Headed for 14 mile slough and caught a 1.5 on the first cast. Well you know what that meant - next bite came 2 1/2 hrs. later. As the tide rose and it warmed up some the fish started to respond a little bit but not what I was hoping for. Caught 11 fish up to 5.9 but the next biggest was just 2.5. No real pattern to speak of, just threw everything in the box at them - 5" senko worked the best, two on a jig and three on a white spinnerbait and that was it. It really hasn't turned on for me yet this year, seems like it's still a little on the cold side. None of the fish caught today showed any signs of spawning, their tails looked brand new.

Report: Got 3 rippin in the first hour around rock piles. Picked up a 3lb smallie on drop shot in about 4' water. 1 swim bait fish and a few other tail tappers. Couple other bites came on drop shot. Is there a free launch anywhere?

Report: Worked the bank to 30' from Granite Bay to almost Beals point from ten to noon. Son got a 2# largemouth using a nightcrawler. Think he hit the fish on the head. Nothing more for him and a total zero for me.
      City: Folsom, CA

Tips: Keep trying everything in the box.

      Water Temp: around 60?

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Went up there again with a buddy. Tried the same point as last time, nothing. Moved over 20-30 yards along the bank and tried there. My buddy got the first fish on a purple mister twister. Then i hooked up with one with a smoke w/ purple and black senko. lots of plastics worked today. Ended with 16 fish, 8 for each of us. tried for a topwater bite, since the fish were really shallow, within flipping distance. The count was 2 on the smoke senko, 2 on mister twister, 2 on a 1/4oz red and black jig, 2 on darter head, 6 on motor oil senko (we ran out of smoke senkos!), and 2 on green YUM dinger. Biggest two fish were 2lb. Fish were in 1-2lb range. All fish seemed to be well fed and the lake didnt seem too much lower than the last time we saw it. Lets hope this lake does not get dried up this summer, pray for some rain! Would hate to see this lake go... Anyone have advice for float tubing this lake?
      City: Santa Rosa

Tips: The fish might be spawning because they were really shallow. Plastics worked on the bottom worked well as did plastics worked mid-deep. If you get snagged on structure, and get it free, a fish will likely strike right after you get the bait free. Set the hook quickly, these fish have no problem trying to swallow your baits. Many baits will work, experiment and have fun.

      Water Temp: 47-55

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Yuba City Bass Busters put on a great tournament Sat. We had a great bite with over 40 bass for the day. Best 5 only 9.86lbs. Monday I took out a couple of great clients that have been fishing with me for a couple of years. They caught about 20 bass for the day and the biggest went 3.2lbs. Lots of high fives for the day. As for the bites, they came on jigs and tubes. It was very windy Monday and I think the guys missed a lot of soft bites.
      City: Paradise

Tips: Bass were on the points, walls leading into coves and in back of some coves. We fished the Main Body, West Branch and the North Fork.

Report: Went out today and to bite was good. Caught over 50 fish (two in boat). All fish came on drop shot in 4-15 feet. Caught a bunch off beds but no big ones 1 1/2- 3 lbs. I don't know what the other guy is doing but if you can't catch fish at this lake right now then I would stop fishing and take up another sport.

      Tips: Drop shot oxblood worms.

      Water Temp: 60

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Launched out of Russo's at 7:30am and fished the Tract. Lots of boats in my planned area so tried Old River and only got a few dinks. Around 12:30pm went back to the Tract no bites so when we were just about to quit my buddy Hanson hooks a 6.2 and I get a 4.9. took a picture of the 6.2. Both fish were released and hopefully will make another angler happy or at least give us some more little ones!
      City: So. San Francisco

Tips: The 6+ was caught on a Helix and mine was caught on a watermellon senko. You never know when that fish is going to bite so make that last cast when you can. Water is clearing up nicely so get out there when you get a chance.

      Water Temp: 51-54

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Arrived in Lakeport around 7am with the air temp at 31 degrees. Supprised to see the water temp hasn't changed over the past 3 weeks. My goal was to break in my new Fenwick Elite series swimbait rod along with various types of swimbaits and get some experience using the larger baits. Threw them all morning and only landed 1 bass around 3lbs. The new rod is excellant and handles the large Osprey baits easily. Finally switched to plastics and caught 6 more around the docks, broke off a couple and lost another at the boat. The bite was very soft and tough to detect with all the wind. Talked to another angler late in the day who indicated they only had 3 bites all day.
      City: Rohnert Park

Tips: Fish still have not moved up. Water temp only changed 3 or 4 degrees throughout the day. Fishing slow with finesse baits was more productive than reaction baits.

      Water Temp: 58-61

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Wind was bad early, but died down around 11:30. We had only caught 5 by then and as the wind calmed down we ended up with around 25 fish. We were fishing in close to shore and next to cover. The fish were really holding close to cover, stumps, tullies, grass.
      City: Oakdale

Tips: Dad was using a blue 10" worm and I was using a watermelon babybrush hog w/gold flake, tried alot of different stuff but these seem to work best today. Fish slow and always release the LUKER so someone else can have fun with it...

      Water Temp: 58

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Out of McClure Point at day break. Overcast with a little chop so we started throwing reaction. Shad colored blade gold/silver,LC Pointer ghost and Aurora Blk; nothing. Changed to dart head worms and gitzits in craw colors and caught a couple small ones in ten feet.
Moved to Cottonwood and Portugese and caught a few small fish 1.0 lbs at most.
Threw weightless senkos in the submerged weeds and got bit but still nothing of size.
      City: Hilmar

Tips: I think these fish must still be suspended off main and secondary points;feeding up for spawn. Saw a couple fish thinking about bedding but would not lock in on anything.
Use your electronics and see if you can find them on deep structure connecting with spawning areas, they should be biting somewhere out there.
