Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: 3 of us Sac Bass Wranglers piled in the boat to sample Oroville before our 2/24 club event. Since 2 of us had never fished it before we just wondered about hoping to stumble in to fish. We fished the main body and middle fork from about 8-4:30. We caught about 17 total and had several other bites. Jigs and other plastic worms were key. Best 5 10-11 pounds conservatively. had maybe 6-7 over the slot. All nice and fat.
      City: Sacramento

Tips: Nothing special, just fishing slow with plastics. It wasa nice relaxing day.

      Water Temp: 50

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Another fine day with very light wind...really pleasant after it warmed up mid-morning. Caught two nice bass today, a 3 lb 6 oz and a 2 lb 8 oz, both again falling for the black Swimming Senko R-Rigged with 3/16 oz pegged weight from about 10 feet off a rock bank. John also got a 1.5 lb bass on a regular Senko a bit farther out off a rock bank. They were all very subtle bites just seeming to "be there" during the retrieve. John noticed his line moving off to the right so he set the hook on his. I made a lot of casts with other presentations including swimbaits, chatterbaits, crankbaits, jigs, Brush Hog, and dropshot worms, but got no strikes on those.
      City: Monterey

Tips: Water temperature has increased two degrees in last 24 hours. If that continues, the spawn could start at the next full moon. Until then, the cold water calls for slow presentations. The bass should begin staging outside their spawning areas over the next couple of weeks.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Beautiful day on Anderson. The fish were in a Spring mood with warmer water temps. Caught 10 bass largest going 4lbs. There rest were nice fish in the 2+ range. Picked up two on hula grub and the rest on a brush hog. Nothing on drop shot. Didn't try anything else. Fish were caught between 5 ft and 30 ft. Fish were most active where boat waves were washing up on shallow flats from deeper water.
      City: Foster City

Tips: Soft plastics from the shore to 35ft in mud lines if you can find them. Boat wakes and warm weather seemed to turn the bite on.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: I took my 15 yr old daughter out in the cold for a little fishing in the hopes of catching some early trout. We made it across the lake through the fog with my Lowrance 332c to fish a small cove. She we using night crawlers on a split shot and under a bobber, but the trout we not biting. I switched to a shakey head and grub and caught a couple of bass. We cruised up to mid lake still looking for trout, still no takers. I did catch a smallie on a rip bait and another on the grub. By late morning we gave up on the trout and I handed her my drop shot rod with a 6" morning dawn worm and within a couple minutes she was reeling in a nice smallie. We didn't want the crawlers to go to waste so we hooked one on the drop shot and she caught a largemouth, a smallie and spot up to 2 lbs. I also caught a couple more on the grub and shakey head. Total about 10 fish for the day.
      City: Rohnert Park

Tips: Drop shot off points down to 40 feet. Rip baits around the flats. Don't forget the live bait if you're taking the kids.

Report: On the water at first light but fog kept me from moving for about and hour. Fished the shorline out of Markley no bites. headed out towards main body fished 3 points picked up to smallies and 1 black to 2 pounds. Headed out to main body points draggin jig and drop shot. over the next 6 hours proceed to boat around 12-15 with a mix bag of blacks and smallies. Went back into the Markley arm worked steeps with chunk rock throwing a darter using a 4" Ivino worm picked up another 15 or so over the next couple of hours. Soft bite had to let them carry it for a bit before sitting the hook. Jig hits were soldid but drop shot and darter were very soft. All in all around 25-30 fish nothing over 2.5. but all but where keepers except for 2. Only 2 spots caught all day.
      City: Lincoln

Tips: Work slow very slow feel for the load but don't set right away wait for the fish to carry it a bit keep the load feeling and then set the hook. You will still miss some but it worked for me. If I caught ever tick I had I would have caught around 50 or so.

Report: Started north end east bank for nothing. Went to the bridge at the start of Putah creek nothing again. Saw two other boats dropshotting there also with nothing. Headed up Putah and started working the rock banks with a jerkbait got one smallmouth just legal. Switched to a 7 inch brown and green Yamamoto thin tail worm and started a slow pick. Ended up with 8 smallmouth and 4 largemouth. All legal fish last fish a largemouth that went almost 5#s. Bite was very light, almost could not feel anything. Just that slight feel of live weight and set the hook. Cold,36 degrees in the am and only 55 in the pm. Water temp never went over 49 degrees.
      City: brisbane ca

Tips: Work the steep banks slow with brown or green shakin worms or texas rigged . later in the day look for them right up at the waters edge on steep banks. Work real slow.

Report: What a difference a week makes! I took two fellas to the lake yesterday, starting at 10am, planning to work the evening bite. I was optimistic after last week as the weather was sunny and we caught some right away. Then the wind started - from the north - typical for post-front conditions. What wasn't typical was that it shifted to the south for 2 hours, then back to the north. I know I wasn't a Clear Lake!! We moved to the south fork for most of the trip and fished some of the areas I did last week. No bass! Then it clouded up - not good! I was thinking these might have been reasons for the slow bite - THEN, I looked at the shoreline and saw the problem - the lake had dropped about 3 feet. Sure enough, I check the DWR report this morning and I was right - 3 feet. These arn't excuses, just a bass guide trying to learn and figure out why the bite had changed so much. Anyway, the late afternoon bite did happen a little and we wound up with 10 spots in the 14 to 15 inch range - in addition to one under 13 and one over 15 - 12 total. One of the clients also caught a salmon on a Robo worm!
      City: Yuba City

Tips: We caught all our spots on 4 inch Robo worms of several different colors. They would not touch the morning dawn color! Aaron's magic w/ R&B flake seemed to be the best. And lo and behold, I caught one on a Rodstrainer jig! I used a rip bait late in the afternoon - no takers. All of our fish we taken deeper than 20 feet on steep structure or a drop-off. The lake started at 49 degrees - one or two degrees cooler than last week - and ended at 49 1/2 to 50 1/2 degrees. How's that for a day-long warm'up?!

Report: Really nice day on the water, cold in the morning but it got more comfortable toward noon. Very light wind. Caught bass of 3.15 and 1.25 lbs, both on a black Swimming Senko Texas-rigged with 3/16 oz Florida screw-in weight in about 6 feet off rock banks. Very slow retrieve. Tried drop-shot worms, jigs, shad crankbait, chatterbaits, blade baits and tail-spinners (for the deep, suspended fish), swim-baits, and a buzzbait, but no strikes on any of those. Fished all depths from bank out to 40 plus feet, but only strikes came from 6 feet.
      City: Monterey

Tips: Slow way down, and then slow down some more. Keep movin' and keep chuckin'.

Report: Nice day on Friday. We fished from 2-4 and ended up with 4 dropshot fish. Two of them were pushing 3lbs and the other 2 were small. All were caught in 45ft of water off of rocky points. Nothing was happening shallow.
      City: San Jose

Tips: The bite is still deep. We started shallow but didn't have any luck. Dropshot dark plastics anywhere you can find bait.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Same pattern as last week with the jig and drop shot. Only this week had smaller fish, but more of em'.. Really struggled trying to find a decent bite that never happened. Pair of 3's and some 2ish lb fish was all we could muster up. 17 in the boat, best five about 12lbs, maybe.

      Water Temp: 46

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: I decided to make my short trip to Collins yesterday to see what was going on - if anything. The fog had reached the 1200 ft level (Collins altitude) in one day - I was shocked. I almost turned around and headed home because the bite is very tough in fog. But I did launch about 2 pm and fished for 3 hours. The fog cleared somewhat for about an hour and I actually got 6 pickups (notice I didn't say "bites") in the 45-46 degree water and landed a 2 lb largemouth and a 1 3/4 lb spot. One of the 4 I missed was a pretty good bass. Everything was off-shore and deeper than 20 feet. All bites on a brown/orange Rodstrainer jig.
      City: Yuba City

Tips: The rumor of rain next week is a good thing. The main thing that will help the bite is rain should warm the water a degree or two and create some runoff if there is enough water.
