      Water Temp: mid 70's

Report: Went fishing on the Delta today with my good friend, Larry Hemphill. We started in Whites. I threw a brown jig with a Yamamoto twing tail grub in watermelon with red/black flake. Larry threw one of the new Blade Runner buzzbaits with the planing head. It was red/black. Within the first half hour I caught a 2 pounder and Larry stuck a nice 7 pound topwater fish. We were fishing next to weed flats on the ends of tule islands.

Our next stop was still in Whites. It produced another small keeper on the jig and a few small fish. Larry switched to a spinnerbait and caught a solid 3 1/2+ next to a pump pipe. We had a limit around 14 pounds when we left.

The tide was moving pretty good near Mildred so we worked weed edges with reactionbaits. We caught a lot of fish, the best two going 5# 0oz and 4# 14oz. All my fish came on a Chatterbait. Larry got his on a frog.

Our best five went 22 pounds 1 ounce.
      City: Fair Oaks

Tips: All our quality fish came on reaction baits. Jigs and worms only produced small fish. Better fish were all close to current.

      Water Temp: 79

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: There is a frog bite up there at Sonoma. It's not a red hot bite, but you can get frog fish if you work at it. Caught some nice ones today with Joe Leonard. We had 17 pounds for 5 fish. Could have gone over 25 lbs, but a couple of real good ones came unbuttoned. That's frog fishing as they say. Had a lot of fish(not little fish)just blow up on it and no take. Followed up on those fish with flip baits and nothing(but that doesn't mean don't follow up on a blow up). Frustrating, but we did get some nice ones that ate it. Put some fish in the livewell for awhile and found regurgitated large crawdads(green pumpkin-orange and red) on the bottom of the livewell. All fish still had a good set of teeth on them so I don't know if they are still heavily keying in on the shad. Probably.
      City: Petaluma

Tips: Hopefully it will warm up(hot) and improve the frog bite and make them commit fully. If I go tomorrow or the next day I just go with a dark colored frog( Rojas black-yellow) and a 1oz flip bait(sweet beaver-sprayed grass or boom boom tube) and frog and flip all day in shallow water grass mats. You'll be surprised at what's hiding under there in 1 to 5 feet of water. Surprised the hell out of us. Have faith. Another important tip that worked for us is to cast your frog onto the bank and slowly bring it out(I'm not kidding) and hang on. Good luck. D.B.COOPER

Report: Fished the backs of the bays again pounding the ground. Did not have much success as I started at noon. Drop shot rod was all I brought because I didnt have high hopes for any reaction. Caught a few little fellas on oxblood sculpin. Texas rigged a few more on baby brush hogs. Nothing over about three inchs except one 16" smalley that must have been crazy to eat my bug. All were as deep as I could get my bait. NONE shallow. Best 5 went about 8 oz. Watch out tourney guys. Im comin for ya.
      City: Goleta

Tips: When the sun is high.... wear sunblock! I did see some bassers fishing deep between point pockets in 20-40+ feet. Thats what I would have done if I could swim better or if I had a ride.

Report: Fished Saturday enening using mostly fliping a Senko. Caught 10 to 12 fish ranging from 1 to just under 4 in 3 hours just north of Mildred. Sunday morning the flip bite didn't seem to be panning out so I switched to the rattletrap and top water. The bite opened up as far as numbers go with a catch of about 35 to 40 fish over the next 7 hours. I thought that I was at Shasta. The fish were definitely smaller ranging from 8 to 10 inches to approximately 3 pounds. Top water with a popper in the am seemed to produce the biggest fish. Rattletraps with red also produced 5 stripers ranging from 3 to over 10 pounds. Lot of fun to catch but glad I wasn't in a tourney as it took a lot of time to get them in.

Report: Fished Clear Lake on Sunday with my two son's 11 and 9 I was in Horeshoe Bend throwing blades. We got there early and were having trouble getting bites, a fisherman came over and offered some advise and gave us some baits to try we started catching fish. My 9 year old caught his biggest bass 6lbs on a blade this guy gave us he called it clown color. He also hooked us up on drop shotting we stayed there for hours caught several fish using Robo MM, and a worm called Maverick Shop Special 1.
      City: Stockton

Tips: Throw blades and drop shot around the rocks, it was a blast. Oh thanks I found out the guy who gave us the bait was the owner of Tackleit in Lakeport. Thanks man you made my kids day.

      Water Temp: 78

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I have said this before - but - what a difference a week makes!! I took an excellent fisherman out on a rare Saturday trip and there were LOTS of bass boats - amazing!! I didn't see them have much action however and we didn't either in the early morning. Not a single carp rolled although we did see a few small bass chasing bait. The overall lake was very quite. Places we caught good fish on my previous trip (south end) were devoid of feeding quality bass - at least in the morning. Action did pick up after 10 am and we did manage to put 18 in the boat and scratched out a five fish limit around 17 1/4 lbs. My client's 4+ and my 4- were big fish for the day, along with some nice 3 to 3 1/4's. After preaching about off-shore fish in my last report, all but two of our nice bass were caught near shore. What do I know?!!
      City: Yuba City

Tips: I talked to one of my former clients who is now a top-notch tournament pro at Clear Lake with a boat or two to his credit. He was fishing the north end Sat and only caught about 13 lbs - so - who knows. I know the great summer bite often changes near the end of August and the bass get a little harder to locate and then the September tournament pressure arrives. So , you just work harder! Like the previous report, crankbaits and spinnerbaits did not work for us. The worm bite was good when it started, but I can't say much more since I think he has a tournament coming soon.

Report: today went out at 1:00 pm and right away caught a 1 to 2 pound fish at the boat launch off of a bass jig. then at around 6:15 pm i went to the island bridged and frog fished for about 7 minutes and lost a nice fish. determined to catch it i went back 5 minutes later and hooked on a nice 5.9 pound bass off of a reaction innovation bullfrog sold at extreme angler

Tips: give the fish some time to get annoyed and it will whack your baits. good luck!

      Water Temp: 69

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Tough bite today...as in nada for John or me. Fished from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. under perfect weather conditions...very little wind until about 1:00 p.m. John got some pecks on a 5" Senko but that was it for us. We both tried a variety of presentations from shallow to top of thermocline at 28 feet. Lots of baitfish visible on surface, and in some areas being chased by small bass or crappie, but no takers. I made a lot of casts with the buzz-bait but couldn't raise any biters. Scott got a couple of buzz-bait bass early in the morning, and one mid-morning, but none later. The main dam seemed void of fish...virtually none showing on the depthfinder and no bites on surface or sub-surface presentations anywhere along the dam.
      City: Monterey

Tips: No help here...nothing we tried today worked, including blade baits on the bottom.

      Water Temp: 72

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Not sure what happened to great bite earlier in August. With the dropping temp, the fishing has got tougher for me. Lots of sub 2# fish are biting on the bank (beavers and senkos) but the 3#+fish are harder to locate. Also, the Reaction Shark was working, but again, all small fish.
      City: belmont

Tips: no great tips from me.. maybe it's time to throw the spinnerbait - i did see the bass busting the minnows and shad. Like an idiot, i kept trying to get the big ones to eat topwater.

Report: Wadda day on Wadda Jig. Took what I learned from Cooch's guide service two weeks ago and tried to apply. No slop/hyacin fish on high tide today. Those mats are probably all fish out now. Some big tournament out of Russos today. Waited for low tide and fish started bighting. All fish came off outside weedline, next to deep water (11+ ft). I found these areas in Sandmound, Piper and areas off the San Juaqin. I ended the day with 5#, 5#, 2.5,2.5,and 2. With some more 2+ pounders to spare. All bit a 1/2 oz TNT Brn Jig. The same one Cooch gave me,and the same one used last week at Clearlake with great success.
      City: sac

Tips: Buy and learn how to fish a Wadda Jig around deep water with grass nearby.

Report: Fished today around Glenhaven and Buckingham for about 3 hours and caught 15 fish. Most of the fish were taken drop shotting, however I also caught a few fish with the spinnerbait and crankbait. Biggest fish was just over 4, best 5 were -maybe- pushing 15lbs.

Tips: Kreatures, LV 500 and white spinnerbaits. The crankbait bite was slower than normal for me today.

Report: It was a great day out on the water. Since I was a bit disapointed in the lack of cover in the north side of the lake, I fished the south side this time around. I caught two 2lb. bass. One at 9am, and the other at 11am. Both were caught on a zipper june bug shakin worm.
      City: Sunnyvale

Tips: Target places where water level drops. Mine were caught where water level changed from 2ft to 6ft drop.
