Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Jim Ryan and I went out about 2:30pm, very light wind and air temp @ 80. Fished over the left side and then the right side of the dam. Finding small bass to even smaller in 20-30 ft with worms on dart heads and split shot. Moving around the lake for the next few hours, again finding small fish. Next I'm starting out in the morning.
      City: rocklin

Tips: dart head slow with a 4" worm in 25 ft, then go deeper with a JK jig.

      Water Temp: 70

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Got out yesterday for the first time in about 3 weeks. In spite of post-cold front conditions the fishing was pretty good early. Although I charted good fish in 10'-15' the better fish that were willing to bite were in 25-30'. The cooler water and lack of boat traffic should bring more fish shallow as time goes on. I caught a couple of fish on topwater and a couple more cranking, but the best fish were caught darter-heading senkos in deep water. Best LM was about 4 and was caught on the side of a tailing pile in the North End. Best smallie, almost 3, was caught on a steep drop-off at the ballpark.
      City: Weaverville

Tips: Best fish were caught on the sides of walls but I expect they are transitioning to shallower water. Hope I get a chance to find out.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Launched at 7am. Clear skies and 51 deg. despite forecast of overcast. Threw big double buzz bait as I learned from Kelley Ripa!! Lots of follows but no big fish (I need more practice). Ended up with 3 dinks. Big guys seem to still be hiding. Water temp and day time temps are slightly lower than last week.
NOTE: Launch now opens at 6:30am.

Report: Tough bite! In at Granite Bay @ 6am out @ 3pm. One keeper up shallow on Pop-R in Sliver/Blue.
No other serious takers. Fished deep, fished deeper, and even deeper yet??? Outstanding weather.

Tips: Fish Clear Lake or the Delta.

      Water Temp: 70

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Tough bite out there. Fished 11AM-5PM with only 4 keepers. Lots of dinks. Launched out of Granite Bay and went north. Most fish were caught on 6" Roboworms in Morning Dawn and Aarons Magic. Less pleasure crafters than usual but no fish. Hopefully things get better in a few weeks.
      City: Sacramento

Tips: Caught a couple of fish on shad color rattletraps in and around trees. Other than that, good luck catching any keepers out there.

      Water Temp: 73

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: On the lake at 0830. Light breeze so I started with crank and spinner bait shallow. Took one small bass. Move out on main lake structure in 20 ft dropping to 40 ft. Took several fish on drop shot on the top of the structure in 21 ft of water. Moved around the lake fishing deep drops and rock in 15-25 ft of water. Caught fish all over at those depths. No real pattern except the depth and the presents of boat waves over the structure. Caught a total of 17 bass 1.5-2.0 lbs. - half on drop shot and half on a brass-n-glass robo worm all from the 10 to 25 ft of water.
      City: Foster City

Tips: No pattern except boat waves and wind turned the bite on in 10-25 ft. It seemed better where there was rock and a steep drop or off points. For best results try reaction baits early and switch to plastics on off shore structure if you can find it.

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Went to Cachuma today with a partner. Went straight to Santa Cruz bay and started fishing the grasslines. Caught several 1-1.5 pounders one nice ~ 2 lb, and the rest of the day we caught more 4-8 inch fish than you could shake a stick at. Talk about aggressive, the little ones were hitting cranks bigger than they were. Partner even managed to caugh a trout on a crank bait. Partner caught one real nice smallie that was loaded with 1 inch or smaller shad. Winds were howling later on so piloting the boat was a chore. Over all it was a fun day. Just wish the fish were bigger. Can't wait for cooler weather and the really big fish
      City: Lompoc

Tips: cranks, senkos in 0-16 feet of water. Shad color for both

His winner has to go to Don Davis for the tips and sample baits. They work.... We threw frogs all day long over weeds and open water. Hard to believe....Yes... Ask Nic. We had a frog bit till 2:30pm. Almost late to weight-in, we were having to much fun. Yes, he kicked my bass. I only had 6 lbs throwing a 3x zulu over the weeds. Great job Nicholas and Thanks Don....
      City: Fremont

Tips: Throw that frog over that weed line and high or low tide...

Report: Devil Mountain Bassmasters fished our first annual "Lake X" tournnment on Clear Lake this past Saturday. The "Lake X" format is an one where the TD selects the lake but no one knows the location until the club meeting and draw. The lake is then revealed and no one can pre-fish. With everyone heading to the lake with no first hand knowledge of the conditions, it pretty much forced us to figure it out in a day! With chaning weather conditions fromt he cold front that moved in, expectations were for a tough bit. Reports of 30-50 fish days in the week ahead of the tournament gave hope but no one was very confident that we would see those numbers. At launch, conditions were poor, winds of 10-20 MPH put white caps on the water and air temps werre in the mid 50's. THe sky was overcast but breaking up. Day turned out pretty nice but much cooler than the previous weeks. We all managed to limit out and most of us managed to cull fish to gain a few pounds. Reaction lures produced some fish but mostly small. Plastics and jigs seemed to produce the larger fish up to 3.6 lbs. Winning weight was over 11 lbs. My partner, Rondo managed to stick a couple of really nice fish but the broke his heart then his line snapped. Anyway, we all had a great time and even in adverse conditions this lake produces. Come out and join us. Meeting on the first Tue of each month in Dublin. Email for more info.
      City: Walnut Creek

Tips: Throw jigs and plastics in browns and greens. Look for ledges with weed or tulies. Brush hogs, beavers, power hogs all worked well. One guy was even sticking fish on bubble gum colored worms.

      Water Temp: 75

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Pretty good bite overall. Throw C-Rig 7inch Robo (Black Grape). We went through about 25 fish. Best depth was 15 - 25 feet and fish slow. Killer bite for this time of year and the quality is sick!
      City: Fullerton

Tips: Watch for busting fish. If you see them busting, land a tailspin on their head within a few seconds and you'll catch some nice fish.

      Water Temp: 69

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Taking smallies and blacks on electric blue(purple) ripple tale 6 inch powerowrms in backs of coves this pattern has lastes the last 2 weekends. Also tacking fish on salt and peppper
grubs on darter heads my old standby. But the bigger fish are on the power worm. Fishing out of Granite Bay but not far up the river. Early morning.
      City: G

Tips: Bite take place right after worm hits the bottom.

Report: Tough bite out there right now. We got ourselves a limit on Saturday but it wasn't a very big one.

      Water Temp: 72-74

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished the coves in and around the Ironhorse campgrounds area and worked our way south to the powerlines. Saw tons on baby bass everywhere. I think they were Floridas. They loved a shiny/cyanblue crankbait, but the bigger ones didn't. They liked my husky jerk. Got 3 on that. Biggest was only about 2 lbs. We got hits on worms, but they never stayed on. It seemed like they were shortstiking our worms. Only saw one bass boat all day. Still too many damn wakeboarders and jetskiers, they're huge wakes really can screw up your presentation. Also, the water at camp smells funny, like sulfer. Hopefully they'll bite better as the weather cools in the next month or two.
      City: San Jose

Tips: Trailer hooks maybe? Some of the bass would follow our lures all the way to the boat. Also, bring a prefilled shower bag if your camping. Melones is beautiful though, drive safe on Hwy 4. It's hairy, especially at night.

      Water Temp: 74-75

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Started rippin as soon as they would let me on the water. Ended up with 3 fish on the rip bait. As the sun got higher I slowed down with C-rigged plastics. Caught 3 on a baby brush hog and 1 more on a 4" roboworm. All fish were cookie-cutter 1.5 to 2 lbs. Off the water at 11.
      City: San Jose

Tips: Lots of fish available here. If you can't get them to chase fast baits slow down with plastics in about 12-18 ft of water. Fish were caught all over the lake...no real pattern besides the water depth.
