Clear Lake
-
Water Temp: 76-78
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: I did another "teach the lake" trip on Thurs with 2 fellows that did quite well. The weather was perfect as the cooling trend was beginning and a south wind was starting to get serious in the afternoon. It seemed to be a little different bite for us as the bass seemed to run a little smaller. We did catch 35, but only had a 16 1/2 lb or so limit. We could not break 4 lbs, but lots of quality small to big 3's. We fished from Rattlesnake to Soda Bay as I showed them some good spots both off-shore and on the bank. Caught a few on cranks, but most were on the Yamamoto Kreature baits - #330 being the best. #213 really became a hot bait in the afternoon. Again, we are just Texas rigging the baits - with a bead and Smelly Jelly!! The 10" Power Worm in red shad was a winner too. Fun day and the fishing was "no sweat" for a change - and I mean that literally!!
City: Yuba CityTips: I have found, like last year, a slight lull in the quality bass that were being caught a few weeks ago. As the tournament pressure picks up, the Clear Lake monsters will be harder and harder to find and catch. Try to fish out-of-the-way places. The normal "hot-spots" will be pounded hour by hour and no savy bass will hang in those spots for long. This is the time of year to try that spot you always "didn't have time to try". Maybe no one else did either!! Study new parts of the lake. Take a chance! I appreciate all the nice e-mails I have received from my last few reports. I'm glad someone is reading them!!!!!

Water Temp: 76 DEGREES
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: TWO TRIPS OUT IN TWO WEEKS, CLEAR LAKE IS WHERE ITS' AT RIGHT NOW. BETWEEN THE TWO TRIPS, SIX DAYS TOTAL; MY WIFE MY BUDDY AND I BOATED ABOUT THREE HUNDRED BASS NO EXAGGERATION AT LEAST FIFTY A DAY AND TO BE HONEST ANYTHING IS WORKING RIGHT NOW. NOTHING HUGE FOR US HOWEVER, BIGGEST ABOUT 5.4; A FEW FOURS AND WAY TOO MANY THREES TO COUNT. BEST METHOD FOR THE BIGGER ONES IS FLIPPING PLASTICS TO THE TULES BUT DON'T BE SHY TO DROPSHOT; MANY BIG FISH WERE CAUGHT ON M.M III.S AND AARON'S MAGICS. WE WENT NORTH SOUTH AND EVERY WHERE ELSE. THE WHOLE LAKE IS EQUALLY PRODUCTIVE WATCH FOR DEEP WATER LEDGES OR NEARBY DROPOFFS. MORNINGS AND EVENINGS NOT THE GREATEST FOR US SO NNO NEED TO BE UP BEFORE SUN UP, THEY SEEMED TO LIKE THE SUN ON THE WATER. CRANK THE ROCKS WE CAUGHT SEVERAL FISH ONE AFTER ANOTHER ON CRANKS CHARTREUSE BEING THE BEST; STAY AWAY FROM THE CHEAPOS GET SOME LUCKY'S-YOU WON'T LOSE THEM IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING; THERE'S NO PRICE ON FUN!
City: PLACERVILLETips: WHEN IT'S CALM FLIP-WINDY CRANK OR DROP SHOT. BE AWARE OF THE WEATHER FRONTS THINGS WERE GETTING A LITTLE TOUGH FOR US WHEN THE FRONT PUSHED IN.

Report: Hey guys,
I wish this was a fishing report. For the next 2 years I'm gonna miss the bass fishing. My job sent me over seas to South Korea for awhile. Please keep me and my family in your prayers. I've been in country for 3 days and already miss the fishing. If you happen to see the Custom Valco Bass Boat, "Bass Buster 1", that will be my brother. Lucky him getting my boat and all the fishing stuff.
Good luck with the fishing for the next 2 years and hope you all enjoy the fishing. I will be on line to check the reports. Cya all in 2 years.

Shasta Lake

Water Temp: 74-76
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Hey everyone. As a lifetime resident of the Redding area and a longtime angler of Shasta Lake, I just want you all to know that the reports - I take that back, I can't really call them reports - the ramblings of "the Butcher" are not necessarily the opinion of the majority of us that live and work in this area and fish this beautiful lake. There is plenty of lake for everyone and it is not necessary to get indignant and abusive toward those that aren't locals, so "Butcher" you may want to find another forum to air your complaints becuase what you are posting on this site has no use as a fishing report.
Now for a real fishing report. The wife and I got out for a couple of hours Sunday afternoon after babysitting the grandson. We headed up the Pit arm and fished the main body with exposed trees. In a little less than two hours we hooked about a dozen fish with little effort, eight of them being keepers. We used only two things a 6" Peacock Bass colored worm and a Pumpkinseed colored, twin tail, hula grub. Our best five went about 8.5 lbs. The quality of fish was noticibly better on this trip. My wife liked to work the bank while I concentrated around the trees. We both did well, but I was catching larger fish in the 2lb. range. I wish that we had more time so I could have thrown a few other baits, but all in all it was a good day, much better than recent trips.
City: Palo Cedro, CaTips: Try main body points with trees. The hula grubs brought the larger fish. "Butcher", go somewhere else for your worthless postings. Even the locals are sick of them.

Report: Bobby, Shasta is like any other deep, clear Northern CA. lake. Drop shoting, split shoting, or darter head worms in shad or craw colors (morning dawn & salt n' pepper are good bets) should do fine for numbers of smaller fish. Fishing 3/8 oz.-1/2oz football head hula grubs in craw colors (green pumpkin, cinnamon blk. flk.) might upgrade size a little bit. Fish top waters early and late for bigger spots. (Poppers for smaller fish super spooks bigger fishes. If you can handle the boat traffic try to fish main lake points and steep rock walls. If not there are fish everywhere on this lake. Looking forward to your report.
City: MckleyvilleTips: Stay deep and have fun. Tight lines

I managed to catch a 3.5oz, 20" large mouth with a 5" Yum Worm in junebug color. Within an hour I caught a 5lb 3oz, 23" large mouth with a 7" senko in black color with blue specks. best day I've had at the damm. my buddy missed a couple nice hits on a big Tube and a 7" senko same color I used.

Shasta Lake

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Can anyone give a novice fisherman some advice on how to fish Shasta this time of year for bass? I understand from a very seasoned angler that floating cheese at 100 feet is the only way to catch bass on this lake. My Snoopy pole only came with 10 feet of fishing string, what do I do?
Seriously, any help would be greatly appreciated!
City: SacramentoTips: Don't listen to the butcher! Stop by the Elementary School, they would be just as much help!

Water Temp: 70-73
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: My luck that at UOP I can go fishing less than 2 minutes away because that is how long it takes to walk from my room to the Calaveras River. I have been catching around 3 to 4 fish aday on senko, spinner, brushhog, and curlgrub. To my surprise I caught 4.5lber last thursday on a senko.Only fish for about a half hour to an hour each time I walk over and other students either laugh, stare, or rarely ask a how's it goin. I was able to make an outing on the delta on labor day and it was busy out on the water around white slough. Caught a whole bunch of fish but almost all little ones or crappie on a small wht grub. Did manage a 5lber on a senko at around 830am. I was shocked to not see any striper action on the surface or have any follow the lures.
City: stocktonTips: Mostly went out to catch fish and did not care about size because I wanted to get out on the water and enjoy some fishin and get away from school and friends. Fished mostly weedlines and some tules, had a hit from any kind of fish every cast with the white curltail grub.

Water Temp: 67-69
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Jim Ryan and I got in the water at Wimpy's @ 6am. no winds and the temp was around 60 degs. We started fishing right away with the high tide all most ending. Jim's first came on a rattle trap. Slow bite so we move during the slack tide to Beaver slough. Not find much until the tide started moving about 9:30, then some fish started to bite on Senkos, JK Jigs in black/purple. Lost one off a tree and bent my 3/0 hook. Still a good and a good hamburger at Wimpy's.

Water Temp: 78-82F
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Started out in the back of Cottonwood Creek at 0630. Caught a few on topwater early on. At about 0830 the water started boiling. The bass were pushing shad to the surface and gorging on them. We caught quite a few smaller fish using smoke colored soft plastics, rattle traps, and other shad imitations. Moved up to the back of Piney Creek and caught a few on worms and jigs. Moved down to the main lake and fished the islands. Found nice fish in the clearer water near the mainlake islands. Afer 1530 caught all fish on 6" smoke colored worms on a 1/8 oz. darthead. Called it a day at about 1730 and ended up w/ about 25 or 30 fish between me and my team partner. Mostly smaller fish but caught a few 2 and 3 pounders.
Tips: Check out the new fishing baits and tackle at the Snelling 76 station.
