Report: Went out for last 2 hours of daylight down south during low tide. I had just picked up a couple big obnoxios looking Persuader buzzbaits at Delta bait and was itching to give em a try. We targeted outside bends w deep grass and low current. My very first bite on the new buzzer was a 10lb 1oz toad,, what a way to break in a new lure, my second was a 3lbr and actually broke the wire. In all fairness, the 10lbr made a real mess of it and had to be bent and twisted back into shape. I guess I'll be buying a few more. Got about 10 more but no size to speak of...

Report: The fishing has really improved at Lake Chabot. Since I posted my last report, I've gone twice in July. Caught 11 bass to 2 pounds on July 6th and 4 to 3 pounds today on the 17th. Fished Bass Cove a couple of hours before sunset using surface plugs. Saw a few monsters in the 6-8 pound range. No takers. Small fish are active. Hits are big for the size of the fish. Plenty of swirls. Typical of Chabot, the bass seem to get active in the shallows on realy hot days at dusk. I fish off the tullies about 10-12 feet. Haven't thrown any plastics or deep runners, fishing has been too good on top! The Christmas tree program has really paid off. Thanks.
      City: danville

Tips: Please release all bass. Chabot has finally turned the corner and in a couple of years it should be a truly great lake again.

Report: Ryan and I got in at Granite Bay @ 5:45am, what a nice morning it is before the hot sun came up. Even the boaters are out early to enjoy the water. We started out at Andersen Island with Pop R's and buzzbaits, had five small blow ups and no fish. I started draging a split shot with a lizard picking up two blue gills and one very small spot. Out of the water at 9:30am before the heat.

Report: Went to Lafayette on sunday and fished with my dad from 7:00-1:00 in a boat. Fished the boat rental area and got a few dinks. Headed out to L dock and casted right next to the dock and bam 2lb bass. Went over to where I caught it and saw three bass at least over 6lbs. Man this lake has some huge bass in it. After that we went to the other side of the dock and got a 3lb 9oz bass. And all the rest of the day my dad and I got dinks.
      City: CV

Tips: We got all our bass on a 4" t-rigged brass n glass finese woorm in natural colors. Cast right next to a dock without weeds under it and just let it sink and fish it all the way back to where you are.

Report: If the bass aren't biting here, try over the BART tracks at Shinn Pond. Caught 4 keepers (largest 4.75 lbs) on 7/17 in the AM hours. 2 on shallow crankbaits fished almost so slow they barely swim, and 2 on all white spinnerbaits (3/8 ounce double blade).
      City: Fremont

Tips: All the bass I have seen at Shinn lately have been along weedlines that have 15+ ft. water close by.

      Water Temp: 80+ surface

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Yes those water temps are right. I wasnt aware of there being two clubs out there, but I do know that Riverbank's BASS club was. As my partner and I were pulling in a bit past midnight, they were all tied up to the blue docks getting ready for weigh-in. Anyways about the fishing - it was ok for the little while that we tried. Started off fishing the point across from the docks around sundown for one fish at 2 lbs on my 2nd cast using a black flippin' tube. Worked the north side of the lake by the spillway after that, missing a few hits and bumps and getting one more 2 lber after quitting and heading off to the coves for catfish.
      City: Sacramento, CA

Tips: Water is real warm but that isnt stopping the fish. Fish slow and up close to the bank. Smelly jelly is a must.

      Water Temp: 87-90

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished from 6 pm until 2 am. Caught and released over 20 fish with the smallest being as big as the bait and the largest just over 5 lbs.
      City: Cirtus Heights

Tips: Lake was busy due to 2 club tournaments.(don't ask me how both clubs got a permit for the same night). There were boats everywhere. We left due to too many idiots running full speed around the lake in the dark.
Fished fast and outside the weedlines using plastic, crankbaits and topwater.

      Water Temp: 84

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: went on our first nite fishn excursion of the year and launched on the main body at 6:30pm..our evening bite was curtailed somewhat as we ended up towing a ski boat full of folks back to berryessa marina..i found out that a 50hp doesn't go squat when your'e towing...went to the east side and caught a couple of fish before dark and then went to fish some steeper rocks...ended up gettn alot more bites than hookups, but boated around 10 fish with a 3# and a 5#...the fish were very shallow and most came on plastics...quit at 2am, got too sleepy, glad my partner was awake to drive home...
      City: orinda

Tips: if you fish at night always go with someone, for safety and also it always seems that the weird things happen at night and it always good to have a witness...also it will enable one to fish shallow and one to fish the deeper and you will cover more water...normally we use 7" worms or larger, but if your'e not gettn bit drop down in size...now if anyone can give me hints on how to get some topwater action in the evening, i'd really appreciate it.......good fishn......

Report: Launched out of Whimpys at 5:30am fished hog and beavewr slough, caught 8-10 fish moslty in the 1-1 1/2 pound range on soft top-water bait. Largest fish was about 3 1/2 pounds came on a speed trap, also stuck a 19" striper on the speed trap as well. Off the water by 10:00am
      City: Sacto

      Water Temp: 75-79

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Ryan Mckinley and I started out at Paradise Point @ 6am. Went down Dissapointment using frogs, Buzzbaits with a out going tide. Low at 10am. This is not the best time to be using a top water lure. Switching to a Senko and JK Jigs in dark colors we found some small bass. Moving over to White slough working some of the rocks and water pipes we found some biger fish up 5.0 lbs. on a senko in Smoke with Purple flake. With the tide swing @ 4.0 feet work the outside of the weeds and the big inner pockets. Later we had lunch at H&H waiting for the tide to came in. Working the White at 1:20 the sun was hot hot. Not many boats out , some came out later for the high tide.
      City: rocklin

      Tips: High tides are better

      Water Temp: 84-86

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Fished Friday PM, Saturday AM & PM and Sunday AM in the Rattlesnake Island area. The heat was brutal!! Ended up a with 30 fish total. One 4lb'er on white spinnerbait, lost one at the boat that was pushing 5lb on a black jig. All of the rest of the fish we caught were on drop-shotting purple or blue Robo's. Those 1-1/2 and 2lb'ers sure are a lot of fun on light spinning tackle!!!
      City: Santa Rosa

Tips: All of the fish that we caught were holding in 10 to 12 ft. of water

Report: Fished the night tourney for FBC at this Dead Sea. Results from the 109 degree blast off or should I say melt off were 18.5 lbs for two outings/4 fish limit each for winner and he had big fish of 4.10. Add the humidity of the lake and some of the 36 may have driven past their favorite holes just to catch a breeze. As usual for this time of the year, it cooled off to 78 degrees about 4 AM for about 1 hour.
      City: Fresno

Tips: Dark blades and worms right next to the bank.

      Water Temp: 81-83

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I guided a grandpa, son, and grandson, Thurs and a single client for half day on Fri. No heatstroke thankfully! Water was 81 on Thurs when we started in the south fork, and then went to the middle fork which I thought would have an afternoon breeze. Bingo! - it saved us!! We caught around 40 bass up to 14 1/2 inches, including lots of 12 inchers. It was the fun they were looking for! Green pumpkin and morning dawn were the worm colors that worked best. We were split-shotting the worms. I tried topwater and did catch 2. We fished every shade pocket we could and that helped - especially in the middle fork. That is a good pattern when the lake is full - look for overhanging trees. Most of our bass were caught on points or cuts. They were from 2 feet deep to 25 feet - bigger ones were deeper - no surprise. Small bass were chasing bait all over in open water. Friday was different. The water was 2 degrees warmer and the fish were more scattered and smaller. There were small bass everywhere near the surface but they had no bait to chase is my guess. The bait went deep. There was no surface activity and it was hot!!!!! We stayed in the south fork and did catch 20+ - including my client's LARGEMOUTH. Where did that come from?! Interesting to fish back to back days and see the changes that take place as the weather dictates.
      City: Yuba City

Tips: All the bass were spiting up pond smelt - lots of them! The smelt were sure small - no wonder the bass are skinny! At least they are feeding well. It is fun to guide clients that are using my 782 G. Loomis rods! Those spots won't quit in 80 degree water. The clients just love fighting those fish on a wonderful rod. I found flats that extent out 20-25 feet from shore and then drop off - held the most and the biggest bass. Definately - Structure 101 for summer!!

Report: tubed the island pond from 7-12, 7 fish, two over 3lbs., one over 5lbs. Bigger fish came from the weed islands
      City: p-town

Tips: around 9:30 a.m. there were dragon flies everywhere and then the fish started jumping and didn't stop till noon. tried to match the hatch all I had was 4" watermelon w/red flake senko's. only one other tuber out there this morning and we made the most of it. He caught more on an oxblood roboworm than i did on my senko but I caught the bigger fish
