Report: Spent couple hours on white's. very low tide. shallow cranks in shad pattern caught 5 and one on a senko. Anyone see the tornado north of HWY 12 today. After releasing a fish I look up and see a funnel cloud. I was like that is cool then I look down and see that it actually touched down. Once it had lifted and disappeared the wind kicked up and called it a day.

Tips: Fish caught on shallow cranks in shad pattern. Senko was in motoroil/ red flk

Report: I went fishing with my friend David today. We got to the lake at about 2:20 and started fishing the boat ramp area. I cuaght a 13incher pretty quick on a 5" Bub Watermelon Kinami Flash in the weeds. I got a few hits on a brown jig around that area but didn't get the fish. One was most likely dink because it bit off the trailer. I set the hook too later on the other one after it had already dropped the jig. David caught one about 1lb. 4oz on a small jig off the boat ramp and got a couple other hits. We fished near the bridge to the island and I cuaght a 1-7 on the jig and David caught a 1-5 on a Junebug Senko. I caught a 1-5 on a frog in that shallow cove to the right of Channel Point dock. I missed one on a frog close by. We went to the left of the dock and I caught a 3-7 flippin my jig into the tules. It looked as though it may have been on a bed becuase its tail was beat up and bloody. We fished our way toward Cat Tail and I got a blowup on the frog but it was just a dink. The the right of the lagoon I pitched my frog to the weeds and was look away. When I looked back I saw a boil and ripples and before I could set the hook , my frog came floating back up. We went to the left of the lagoon rocks and I got another blowup on the frog but missed it(I think it was a dink or maybe it just grabbed the legs of the frog). I got another blowup a few minutes later and missed that fish too. It doesn't make any sense because I felt that fish when I set the hook but didn't hook it. It had to have bitten short. We left at 9:00.
      City: Antioch

Tips: Jigs, senkos, and frogs all around tules and weeds. Fish seemed to be short-striking the frog so maybe I should change colors or retrieve. It also helps to pay attention when fishing that frog! LOL

      Water Temp: 69-72

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Very windy caused me to run towards Anderson Island and throw the super spook for a while. After an hour only a few small darthead fish I ran to Beals and found a few blade fish around the swim area. With the wind velocity and direction (out of the south), I went to the Pennisula and started throwing a blade around the piles of rocks I could see and caught a 3.5# Largemouth and about a 2# Smallie. Moved over to the pipe near the campground and dropshotted another 2# Spot. Last stop was Dotons point and ended the day with a 3.75# Spot and a 1.75# Smallie on a dartheaded Robo. With the Police & Fire Games coming up in July, my best 4 weighed 11.25# with a big fish of 3.75#.
      City: Roseville

Tips: Couldn't get any one thing to work consistantly. With the wind I figured there would be a reaction fish or two up feeding in the surf and found that to be correct. Dartheading is still the go to technique for me with dropshotting the trees second. No topwater fish for me YET!!

Later go to 4 inch grubs on an 1/8 oz. dart head and swim it slow of the points and around the willows. Also a carolina rigged 4 inch Magic Worm in #1 or #39 color.

Report: Received a 24hr notice for a Guide Trip from two gentlemen from UC Davis. Met up with them Thursday at Markley Cove. We departed for the Northend of the lake at around 6:30AM in the morning under fair but cloudy skies. The wind was coming out of the West at 15-20miles an hour. No fun for the Northend. They caught a couple mixed bag of Largemouth and smallmouth. In all because of the wind I couldn't stay up there and started to come down the west side of the main lake. By 10AM it started to rain. Where we prepared NO. I found a bay out of the wind that had Spots stacked up on Large boulders down to 25ft. We drop-shotted them with Robo 5 1/2in Mutilators, some were caught on the Green Shiner. I went over to an area that had a smerged Island that had a Break from 6 to 18ft with the wind blow'in directly into it. They caught quite a few smallmouth that went around or over 2lbs with a largemouth that out weighted the smallmouth, around 2 3/4lbs. All this fish also were caught drop-shottin or draggin (Swimmin) down the break, great technique. From there we worked the narrows with no results to speak about. From their I took them to two main points in the area of the dam and above. On one of them the Spots were there in Quality. Being today (Thursday), barometer was dropp'in the fish were finicky and was a very light bite. At first the clients were missing hits and by the end of the day (5:30PM) they had the sluggish weight down pat. Between both of them, they had caught and released 25 fish. Not a bad day considering the weather. 80 percent of the fish came by drop-shottin from 4-30ft of water depending on the structure and conditions inwhich we precude them.
Best color in the Robo family was the Mutilator in 5 1/2 and 6in model. Good luck to all until the next report.

Tips: The Smallmouth and Largemouth on the Northend of the lake can be caught in the Shallows early in the morning and then moving out to deeper water once the sun (If it does) comes out. For the middle of the main lake there down from 15-25 or deeper in average conditions. For the southend of the lake (Dam Area) 15ft and down. If in this area you hit better fish I would go too far expecting to find same quality. The fish are in their summer pattern, Main points near deep water.

Report: Is anyone having any luck shallow (less than 10 feet)? If so do you have any lure recommendations that have been working lately. I haven't fished here in about a month and a half and am looking to make a shore fishing trip sometime next week.

      Report: This is just sad......
I went on this page to find out how's the fishing report on this lake is doing and all I get when I scroll down the site is you guys talking smack like little kids. I'm suprised if any of you guys are over 20. Face it, this lake is full of suprises and some days you're great and some day you're bad. Both of you guys are equal on the lake. Lets pull together and hate on the jet skiers out on that lake. NOW, they have no repect.

Report: Question.... I usually fish off the piers in CA, and this will be my first time lake fishing. What is best to catch bass? I will be fishing off a dock. What is a drop-shot? (May just have what is needed in my fishing gear, but I might call it something else, eh?) ;)

      Cheers, and thanks

      Water Temp: mid 60's

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fihed from 9:30-11am today and landed a small one to the left of the sandy area. Caught another one about 4 lbs. about 100 yards up from the fish ladder. Both were caught using 3" prism shad robos. If you plan to drop shot, fish slow and don't bump it too much. Finesse is key if you want them to hit. There are a lot of baitfish right now and the bass are feeding.
      City: San Jose

      Tips: Look for baitfish.

Report: Launched from River's End Marina (formerly Del's)at 9:30 a.m., off water at 6:00 p.m. Fished my way up to Discovery Bay and back, working hard for three small cookie-cutter keepers, a pound each. Two of them fancied watermelon baby brush hogs and the other a white 3/8 oz. spinner bait. Enjoyed 30 minutes of bonus fun catching and releasing 10 or so stripers, all 15-17 inches. They were busting baitfish on the surface approximately 200 yards from the marina, still in the "No Wake" zone. Quite a feeding frenzy...boil after boil but no birds in sight. Caught all of them with the white spinnerbait. Much to my surprise, they ignored my Storm swimbait and Rat-L-Trap which I tried just for grins. Went back to the spinnerbait and WHAM!!! Finally, the wind kicked my butt in the afternoon/evening...can't figure out how to operate in such adverse conditions.

Report: Hit Chabot at about 9:30 got a boat and went fishing with my dad. First we fished honker bay with pumkin colored senkos. My dad got two dinks and a solid three pounder. Then I got a couple of dinks. Started throwoing swimbait at around twelve. Got one hit the swimbait, it was about six foot down and i see this monster bass swirl on it but, unfortunetly she missed the regular hook and my stinger. She had to be at least 12 pounds. threw the big bait about 45 min longer then went back to the trusty senko. NOthing for the rest of the day. Saw a 5 pounder under a tree limb at the island a a nice one under the boat docks but that was it. Still very new to the lake any information would be greatly appreciated. Does anyone know were those x-mas trees are I can't seem to find um.

Report: I went out with a buddy of mine last thursday when that front was in. We tried for smallies on the rock walls early with little sucsess. The wind started to blow so I started throwing my swimbait on the steep walls and laydowns. I was rewarded with a 12 pound pig over the deep tip of a laydown. By the way this was from a float tube.

Tips: Swimbaits for the pigs. Dart heads, drop shots and tubes for both largemout and small mouth

Report: Hey Fishing P, keeping a bass especially during their spawning season can really hurt the bass population of that lake. Also, keeping resident fish such as bass can pose as a serious health risk due to the high concentration of mercury found in these lakes. With that in mind, keep the catfish and trout and throw the bass back. They will always stock plenty of trout and cats for you to catch and keep, but bass populations are wild, so each fish you keep does harm the overall population. Think about it before you keep your next bass, regardless of its size. Not only can it affect the health of the bass population in whatever lake you may be fishing, but you can expirience various health issues as a result of eating this resident fish.
