      Water Temp: 73

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: I guided or the irst in a long time on a Saturday night and saw some o my riends rom the Yuba City/Marysville area ishing a tournament. The evening was nice to all o us - not much wind, bright moon, warm, and lots o BUGS! Those suckers are hard to get o your boat when you hit them at 50 MPH!!! While our night wasn't great, it wasn't bad. We started drop-shotting some 4" Senkos and we all caught some bass up to 2 1/4 pounds. We moved over to Konocti Bay where I tried the new GULP Worms that Berkley sent me. Since I did well on the camo Pulse worm in a previous trip, I used the new 7" watermellon TurtleBack worm. About 7:30 I got a real good hit and boated a 4-2. I thought Berkley had another winner! Just beore dark my client had another good ish on a drop-shot Senko. A real good ish!! Unortunately he got a little too excited and it broke his 12# test line. Ugh! Ater a nice dinner at the resort, we went back at it. The hightlight o the trip was the act that one o the clients was a regular, but the other had only gone once with me and blanked. Not this time! Ater the moon came up, I put on a black/chartreuse 6" Berkley lizard on or him and he soon nailed the biggest o the night at 4-9, his biggest bass ever. He was excited! He caught our bass total. I had switched to the 10" black/red lake TurtleBack worm and got slammed at Dollar Island and got another over 4 pounder and a 3-10. Boy did that bring back memories o early '93 when I was able to ish the irst 10" Power Worms at Clear Lake - at Dollar Island no less. Those irst two bass however were 9-0 and 11-1. All the bass I caught on the Gulp Worms hit them unusually hard. I will be using them much more!! We ended the evening at Kono Taye with one or two more. Had we weighed in at the tournament we would have had 18 lbs 5 oz - give or take an ounce or two (by 3 am). Though my clients missed a ew, they landed 7 between them and I mananged 5. I was pleased with the quality but we could not get a real big bite.
      City: Yuba City

Tips: I was interested that the two 4's we caught at night were quite shallow - probably because the water was cooler. No jig hits this night. I tried a black spinnerbait quite a bit with no results also. They just wanted a worm or lizard worked very slow. All o my clients who insist on liting the worm o the bottom rather than slide it along the rocks seem to struggle more. Folks that I can get to move the rod tip ever-so-slow seem to do much better. Quality bass will not oten be ooled by a worm or jig hopping up and down at night. Just my opinion.

      Water Temp: 75-85

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: My Dad and I went to Eastman saturday-got kinda a late start and didnt get on the water till around 7ish. Lake is reeeeeally getting low and the usual algae illed water was between 75 and 85 degrees in various parts o the lake at various times o the morning. We went to the northeast corner o the lake and started with oshore rock piles. We inessed 4" green/black/gold lk roboworms on 1/4 oz darter heads and I caught a ish on my 3rd,4th and 6th cast! We continued north and the water got shallower and shallower-I'm talking 2' deep 30'o shore! We also lipped the timber with jigs and senkos-I caught 1 ish on a jig that was well over 3 lbs o timber in less than 2' o water reading 83 degrees! Dad had a ishless morning and I managed a total o 6 by 10 am.It got hotter than hell when the normal breeze didnt blow but all in all considering the water clarity and etc we did ok or the middle o summer! Good luck and tight lines to ya!

Tips: ish sloooooow and shallow-small baits, light weight and as always tight to rock and/or timber.
