      Water Temp: 76-79

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I had a very nice trip yesterday with a very ine tournament angler and his riend that was trying to learn more about bass ishing. I guess he had only caught a ew on previous trips but landed 14 yesterday! And he caught the biggest ish o the day - an 11 pound catish on a #221 Senko - near Jenson Point. He really was a happy camper and I enjoyed giving him tips all day - he was like a sponge! The lake was beautiul - lat and the weather was perect! We saw lots o bass in the south end up to about 8 pounds - most o them roaming and very ew on beds. Whatever their state o mind was, they were very spooky since the water has again cleared up - little or no algae! The weeds are growing at a ast pace and are spreading more and more. We were doing a "learn the lake" trip, so we didn't really try to catch most o the big ish we saw, though each o them hooked one o the bigger ish but lost them both. Without trying too hard we landed almost 30 bass rom 10 inches to a little over 3 1/2 pounds. We used Senkos mostly. caught a ew on worms, a ew on Chug Bug topwater lures (in shadows), and I lost a huge bass on a black buzzbait on the irst cast - about 6 am. I was surprised that I didn't get a ish drop-shotting, though I didn't try that much. I tried to show them many subtle areas that don't get much pressure and there we a lot o bass in most o these areas. What a un day to observe ish in the wild - saw bass, tons o big bluegill (even caught 3), giant carp and catish, and schools o hitch. We all had a great time!! I had a night trip last week that was kind o slow - caught 7 or 8 up to 4 pounds. Still a bit early or a solid night bite.
      City: Yuba City

Tips: There still a lot o shallow ish in the south end but they seemed lethargic and not interested in much o anything. They are hanging around rock and tules. We ished lots o docks without a lot o success. The dock bite should pick up soon.

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Got out o school today at 12:35 and decided I'd go to the lake since it was still early. Had my dad drop me o at about 1:45. The wind was blowing like crazy and there were white caps all over. I igured I wasn't going to have a very great day but it turned out to be an awesome day. Started out at Channel Point throwing a spinnerbait with no success. Tried a senko but the wind just blew it away and it wouldn't sink. Went over by the bridge and caught a bluegill on a trout magnet. I saw a bass that looked to be about 2.5-3lbs and pitched a senko to it. I didn't see the ish take the bait but my line started going tight so I set the hook and missed it. It must have had it by the tail. So I ished a little longer around the bridge without any takers. I went onto the island and turned let when you irst get on it. I went to a little clearing and decided to try my buzzbait I had caught the dink on Sunday. On my irst cast ater about ive turns o the reel handle a bass hit it. She started peeling out drag and that's when i realized it was a bigun. It was a pretty good battle. I couldn't see her until she got close to shore. Then I saw how big she really was. I hauled her up and grabbed her by the lip. It was awesome! I put her on my dig. scale and it irst said 6-11. And a I was thinkin "No way, she's got to be bigger than that." Then the scale read 8lb.6oz! An 8lb.6oz. on a Chart./White Persuader buzzer! My new personal record! Yes! I ran up to the ranger's station and had the lady take a ew pictures. Then i ran down to the boat ramp and revived her. She seemed like she was all right when I let her go and she swam o. She came up to the surace and i walked out in the water and revied her more then she swam away. She popped up about 15t out. The next thing I did was kind o crazy. I jumped in the water and swam out to her and touched her and she took o. It was worth swimming out there to save her. I went back to the kiosk and told the lady about the catch. Check out the pics at the kiosk next time ya go out. My sisters came and picked me up a ew minutes later. What an awesome day!

Report: Heading up the 20th and will be at Millerton thru the 29th. Would appreciate any tips, locations or advice! I will be ishing or spotted or smallmouth mostly, however I would not mind landing one o the larger Stripers... My usuall plan o attack is using crnkbaits and stickbaits... I have caught very ew ish at this lake using plastics (maybe the wrong ones??) I hear that the topwater bite is good in the A.M., However thru the years I have yet to get a good topwater bite either. Also, do you like to ish back in the narrows or stick more to the shorline o the open part o that water. Any ino will be cool!! thanks!

Got a 1.5 on rog, moved down river to get another 1.5 on rog and a bunch o small ish on buzzer (10-12 inches). Bite started to slow, headed or isherman's cut to ish mats at 10:00. Missed a BIG blow up on rog, (at least 6lbs), then proceeded to get a 4.5 pounder on the rog WAY back in the muck. 12:30 headed back to piper to inish the limit with a eisty 3pounder on the buzzer. Biggest 5 went 16 pounds, biggest 7 went 19 pounds. Very un day, o the water at 1:30. I would have won the newbass tournament with that yesterday, go igure!

      Water Temp: 68

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished with clients 3 time this week with reasonable success each trip except yesterdays' which was exceptional. I was ortunate enough to have a client who was an accomplished angler and was able to igure out a very eective Gitzit retrieve. He was rewarded with at least 30 keeper smallies to 3.5 lbs. We targeted lats 6-20' with nearby breaks. The bite was pretty much all day. The retrieve had to be pretty slow and the bite was just pressure most o the time, but we had several doubles and many times 4 ish on 4 casts. Tried targeting LM in the willows with limited success (1 over three) but why mess with them when the smallie bite was so good.
      City: Weaverville

Tips: Gitzits with a little Crawdad Bang up the butt was hot. Smallies were also hitting Pro Gold W/ Red Flake consistantly, but you couldn't have pried that Gitzit out o Dennis' hand with a crowbar.

Report: Zip Decker checking in. Saturday aternoon I was chillin with my buddy Phil Hart sipping a cold one pool side at the resort at Shasta. His deck tootsie was there and she was sporting one o Ujena's best. I'm thinking this is all good- with one exception. More on that in a minute. Phil leans over and says "why don't you bust o a post, dog? I know it's Shasta, but you're ishing with 50 guys rom the Folsom Bass Team- that's close enough." I dropped down rom the northwest- 450 miles, to ish the club's annual two day up here. It's been 6 months, and I accumulated some baggage in a hurry. So strap it on and read. The wheels came o right rom the start. No spook bite. Been dreaming about it since last year. Hooked up with my ABA partner rom last season and discovered a blade bite that produced ish that well, they could almost win. Shasta is totally ull and the water had some stain- it was a hoot. Wildman stayed with it all weekend. It works at Folsom too. I drew 16 year old Chris Hughes or the tourney and I thought this will work. It will be like a mentoring opportunity. Hard to say i he'd be a victim or a beneiciary ishing with the Zipper. He could learn how to better use explicatives or example. I decided I'd treat him to the mature topics o conversation I have with any older partner I draw. Topics like Nascar, and my new mudlaps that have the chick sillouettes. Chris stepped up immediately. First thing Friday he goes back to back on 2.5lb spots. I'm still untangling my rods- I was spinning! It wasn't until we wormed some o shore structure ater lunch when I went back to back on a couple 2lb and saved ace. I told Wildman we had 10lbs. He thought we were putting him together. Saturday day one, and we've got a plan. Props to Chris. Put this young angler on the location and he puts ish in the boat. I told him the problem with this sport is so many things can go wrong. Should have knocked wood. We only caught keepers early- no worries, Chris ound a lippin bite on the wood laying on the banks the day beore. He robbed a bulky skirt o a big jig, stued it on a 1/4 head and used a 4" Senko trailer. Talk about slow-all. This jig could almost loat. We got a bed ish we ound Friday, and I wormed another ish, a 2.9lb, with less than an hour to go. I'm down with conservation so I carry an extra clone in the tank sometimes in case one meant or the limit starts to struggle. All six got into the bag however and when I poured them into the tank we were promptly DQed. Best 5 went 8.9lbs- would have been 3rd place. Totally bush. All weekend: "Hey Zip, how many ingers?" Well Chris, we're in a hole buddy. He's all "ya think?" Sunday I buzzbaited a small limit and it got Chris out o his unk. We went to a creek with some bed ish and Chris connected on a solid 2lb. The area was a hole behind some looded willows and we pushed the brush out o the way to get the bow close enought to pitch under the branches. I elt like Steve Irwin. Chris was like Terry. We had some worm ish out on the main lake and I got out my cannonball spit shot rig. Chris looked at the size o the sinker and thought I was using it to anchor the boat. We connected on 3 nice ones in the last hour. We inished with 9.46 and salvaged the 3rd biggest bag o the day. I'd say Chris learned alot- like why he should avoid certain partners.
      City: Battleground Wa

Tips: Spawn is late. Find some beds and ind some big ish.
