Collins Lake
-
Water Temp: 68-78
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I have been to Collins three times in the past 2 weeks or short 3 to 4 hour trips. One was a night trip where I hooked 5 bass up to 2 pounds on jigs and really lost a nice spot - maybe 4 pounds! The irst trip was in the morning - I threw Senkos mostly in color #214, since the bass were eeding on bluegills! I caught 9 bass including a 2-3 largemouth and a eisty 2-10 spot. I ished Senkos in the shade pockets o submerged willows. Today I went with a riend o mine and we caught 11 in 3 hours - but no real size. We did see a lot o quality ish including a 10+ largemouth!! We caught a ew on topwater and then Senkos and worms. My riend lost a good bass that dumped him in the brush. The heat this week plus post-spawn had slowed things down. One boat we talked to didn't catch a ish. The water is very clear which will make day ishing tough or awhile.
City: Yuba CityTips: Senkos, lukes, and drop-shotting next to cover is always good in June. We spotted a ew good bass about 25 eet on ledges (on the meter). They will start moving out to deeper water now as the lake begins to drop a bit.

Water Temp: ?
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Today Tom, Alex and I had our 4th KOTL tourney today. You prabably already know the standing i you read Tom's report. I got 2 today. 1 on a G-Splash about 11in. and a 1lb.6oz. on a buzzer. I also got a ew more blowups and swirls on those two lures. Towards the end o the tourney Alex spotted a bedish that he though might be 5 or 6lbs. Ater Tom was dubbed, Alex gave up on her and I gave her a try. For about 1hour and 45min. I tried a buzzer which she kinda looked at, a Frogzilla which I got her to bite when it sank, a Castaic bluegill, a senko, and a Lucky Crat Pointer. She lost interest in all o the lures but the Pointer. I threw it at her or a good 45min. or more. She would look at it but not take it. On this one cast I brought it up to the nest and let is suspend right in her ace and she nailed it. I set the hook as hard as I could and sunk the hooks into her. I knew then that she was more than 6lbs. I hualed her up onto shore, took the hooks out, and weighed her. 7lb.8oz.! Awesome! My second biggest bass at Loma and my ourth ish there over 5 pounds! And Alex couldn't even get her to bite. Haha. JK. I took a picture o her on the ground and then yelled or some kids to come over and take a ew pictures. I then released her and she swam o healthy as can be. I copuld have won the tourney i I had caught her during the tourney. Oh well. At least I got the thrill o catching the big girl. Ater that I let.

Camp Far West Lake

Water Temp: 73
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Last time I ished this lake was 8 years ago... it certainly gets busier now than it did back then. Hit the water Thursday aternoon and did real well with shad imitation crankbaits up the Bear river arm. The wind came up that evening, and Friday morning brought overcast skies. Caught alot o ish on plastics (any color except black) and a ew on topwater. Nothing on spinnerbaits. Skies cleared Friday aternoon, and the evening bite was good on both crankbaits and plastics. Then, the yah-hoo's showed up. Fishing all but died as the boat traic increased. Continued to pick up a ew ish here and there i you could ind quiet places away rom the other boaters. All in all, caught over 60 ish in 3-1/2 days, mostly dinks, but a ew good ish in the 1-2 lb. range.
City: Fernley, NVTips: Hold your boat in 25-30 t. o water and cast to rocky areas o shoreline. Most hits came in the irst 1/3 o the retrive. Shad imitation crankbaits & plastic grubs, worms and Senkos... white seemed to be the best color, but every other color we used caught ish too. Fish during the weekdays.
