Report: I have ished the bass cove area twice in thelast week. I am the guy rom michigan that Jason reers to, in his post.Between the two o us we ished jigs, crankbaits, senkos, worms, even jerk baits and tubes in the coves. I saw 8-9 ish between 1-5 lbs. No takers, almost got the ive pounder to take a castaic trout, in shallow water. i let the lure sitting nose irst in the water, and the ish came within three inches, but would not take it. Me and jason both theorized that the mini coldront had backed the ish o. Usually in this long o ishingI can usually get my Chabot average o one ish per our to six hours o ishing, not so this time. Jason is good especially with the jig, he got one bump in a shallow brush illed cove.
      City: Hayward

Tips: bass wanting to move up to prepare to spawn, shaking worms with a rattle might work, also dropshotting, I have a eeling working a black jig, slowly might be the ticket or one o the bruisers.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished inside Discovery Bay all day...Used Brwn/Brwn jig, Withes T Zipper Texas Rigged, and Carolina Rig 4 inch roboworms...Caught 15+ ish...5 in the 2.5 to 3.5lb range, 5 in the 1.5 to 2.5 range and the rest dinks...All good ish came in water at least (8-12) eet deep. The bank was ull o little ish or the time being. Missed several jig ish early beore inding my irst 3+ lb...Water was clear...Every point had at least (1) good bite on it...Still no large ish or me this spring, but I'll keep trying.
      City: Discovery Bay

Tips: Jigs...Moderate success pitching to 4-6 eet o water and crawling the bait slowly back to the boat (15-20) eet out. Most bites came ater hitting rock or dock. The witches T also produced solid action and I need to remind mysel how eective a bait it is rom time-to-time. Depth and structure were keys to getting good bites. Stay sae and enjoy the water beore Ski season takes shape. TG

I missed the irst 10 bites I had. Me and my buddy inally managed to get a ew small ones in the boat. I casted out and my line started moving away real slow? Thought it was the current but, the more I watched I knew something was up. Set the hook and ater a great ight a nice 10lb Bass(actually 9lb 15oz but I rounded up) AWESOME! Kept ishing till dusk when my buddy hooked into a steelhead? The thing was about 23" and it ought like a champ, irst one o those I have seen or heard o being caught. What a day biggest bass ever! She was so beautiul and ull o eggs! Good luck out there!

      Water Temp: 48-51

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I ished a ather-son team at the north end on Friday, hoping the sun would really warm things up. Friday was to be a bit cooler and it was. I wish we had the weekend weather a day early. I watched and talked to several boats (actually the anglers!!) and ound ishing to be rather slow compared to last week. Tuesday and Wednesday nights were very cold and that probably slowed things down a bit. We did not get the big bites we did last week but did manage to land 9 tournament keepers and one short. The biggest was only 3 1/4 pounds on a 128 pointer minnow. The jig continued to be good or 2 pound bass, as was the sour grape brush hog (a good spring color!). We targeted walls with rock on them and scattered tule clumps that were slightly oshore. The action did pick up in the aternoon but the water temp - even with the sun out - only increased 1 to 2 degrees - probably because o a steady breeze rom the south. I like it when we have a 4 to 6 degree rise in an aternoon. That should be just around the corner! It will be interesting to see what a good storm this weekend will do to the ishing. I it is cold, we will be back to a slow period. I showed them a lot o new spots and we had a great time!
      City: Yuba City

Tips: Because o the clear water we downsized the size o our brown/orange jigs and that seemed to help. I threw swimbaits o and on, but no takers. There just didn't seem to be many shallow ish like there were last week - or we just wern't in the right places. At least we saw a big ish - a guy got a 9 pounder on a minnow and released it unharmed. We ound a lot o our jig ish in the shadows o docks, in about 5 to 10 eet o water. Shadows are important with water this clear!

      Water Temp: 51 - 54

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished 6:30 to 3. 6 keepers and 5 dinks. Partner had 3 with a 2.65. No reaction bite. Saw a couple o cruisers but they weren't interested. Best bite was spider grubs in 20-30 t. Dropshot 1 keeper and 4 dinks. Dartheaded blue worms worked also.Fish are really healthy and at but none showed any signs o bedmaking.
      City: Castro Valley

Tips: Bottom contact seemed to be the key. Dropshot leader was only 4 inches. Blue worms and purple grubs.
