      Water Temp: 62

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Two ellows wanted to learn more about the south end since they have a tournament coming up. We started about 7 AM, thinking that the ishing might improve in the aternoon because o the cool water temp. That seemed to work out ine. I spend the irst two hours showing them rock piles, etc., or uture knowledge. We ished them a little but there were ew i any ish on them. I showed them some good tule areas and one o the guys lost a a nice one on a Senko and I missed one. About 10 AM I saw a bass shoot out rom under a dock towards my #301 Senko - put two and two together and set the hook. Sure enough, a 3 pounder. We went to a dierent area in the south end and started to see bass everywhere - some on beds and some looking. I taught them the basics o sight ishing and one o them turned out to be a good student! I had him using a white Weapon jig with a white Yamamoto grub. We soon spotted the biggest bass o the day, about 1:30 PM, and he threw to her. The jig disappeared instantly and ater a cool but scary jump, he had a 7-15 in the net! Wow!! I also got one a ew ounces under 4 pounds on a chartreuse jig - showing them how to get these shallow ish to bite. One unny thing - they both hooked the same ish - a nice 3 1/2 pounder - and both lost it. Since they are ishing a tournament this weekend, I will omit the areas that we were ishing. Ater they let I caught a nap and then went night ishing or awhile. It was air. I caught 5 in a ew hours, 4 o them weighed a little over 17 pounds - 5 1/2 the biggest. They wanted worms - would not touch a jig.
      City: Yuba City

Tips: There is obviously another spawn about to happen, probably this weekend and next week. We saw lots o bass looking or areas to spawn, and the bass I caught at night were all clean and the 4 and two 5's were ull o eggs. It was disapointing that the spawning bass I saw during the day would not bite at night. I didn't catch any o those ish, just pre-spawn bass. Both day and night were beautiul at Clear Lake - little or no wind. It was also interesting that areas that had seen spawning bass last month were now ull o carp - no bass! The areas where bass were spawning now were nearly devoid o carp. I guess they know the pecking order!!

Report: Went out Friday got about 5 to 6 ish all crankbait ish.Last week when I reported ishing the ishing was a lot better and the lake level was down then. Now the lake is so low that the spawn is basically ruined this year .I asked the lady at the pay both threw the ront gate why are they letting water out her response was its contra costa water district.Really sad to see this. This time o year.Keep that catch and realase going and ish on.

      Water Temp: 70

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Launched the boat around 10:30 because I went to O'neil irst to try and catch a striper (Nothing going on at O'neil).I ished until around 3:00 with no ish to show. I have come to the conclusion that this lake is too damm tu and a person would be better o going to any other lake to ish.Just read the reports on this lake or the past two years and it seems the only time to ish the lake is pre spawn. The rest o the time its hit and miss and i you do hit it right a couple guys may only catch 5-10 ish the whole day. That is lousy ishing in my book. The only time I will go back there is i I plan to go strictly hawg hunting and have plans to throw a 10 inch swim bait all day.I hear there are some big bass in that lake.
      City: Modesto

Tips: GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!I the wind ain't blowing a good 15MPH orget it. That water is so clear it needs a big chop to break things up. There are alot o limit size bass around the shore all over the lake but they are damn near impossible to catch. The ish at Los Banos are probably the smartest ish in the state. LOLI someone knows how to consistently catch ish out there besides during pre-spawn please post some tips.

Report: In at Antlers at 7:45am. The crowds haven't arrived yet. Met up with John,Don, and Cameron at Lakeshore Marina. They are down rom Wash. to enjoy Shasta or the holiday. Gave John a ew MGM worms in assorted colors and away we went. Fished the steep banks rom Lakeshore to Salt Creek Inlet. Nothing but small ish. The blonde in the back did manage a 2.0 on a blue/green senko type worm. Salt and pepper was a productive color also. We ished the senko type worms weightless and right on the bank. Later in the day switched to jigs and went deeper, 30'. Probably caught 35 total with at least 5 or 6 being smallmouth. The boat traic started to pick up so out we came at 3:15PM. When we crossed the Pit River Bridge at 4:15 we counted 50 houseboats. I'll return to the water ater the holiday.

Report: Bass 'n Tubes held its annual Open @ Clear Lake the weekend o May 18 & 19. Over 60 loat tubers & kickboaters participated. The bite was very tough. Winning weight was 6 ish or 15.53 lbs. 2nd place was 14.79 lbs, anchored by Day 2's big ish o 4.91 lbs, & 3rd was 14.02 lbs, partly on the strength o Day 1's big ish (& the big ish o the whole shibang) o 7.92 lbs. Bass went or a wide variety o lures, but seemed to be scattered, with tubers unable to locate any o the amed Clear Lake "wolpacks." Wind & waves also made things interesting or those kicking & rowing. John Lake & others rom BNT put together a terriic event - well-organized & well-run.

Report: 39 degrees upon arrival at the marina parking lot thursday morning. Fished rom 7:40 a.m. to 12:25 p.m. and caught 6 LMB and 5 SMMB. Tossed topwater early with only one boil and no hookup. Seven o the eleven ish were keepers, but not much weight. No bite, ish just there. PINCH DOWN YOUR BARBS FOR CATCH AND RELEASE TO CATCH ANOTHER TIME. Warmed up nicely by mid-day, very little wind until that time.
      City: Fortuna

Tips: Plan your travel to and rom the lake or get stuck in a two-hour construction delay i coming in rom Hwy 36. Road closed 8 a.m. daily; open at 10 a.m. or one round o traic; open rom 12 to 12:30 p.m.; open at 2:30 or one round o traic; construction stops at 4:30 p.m. I you are lucky enough to have a water truck go ahead o travel, then you get home with a nice muddy boat and trailer.

      Water Temp: 65.8-67.4

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Well, the pressure drop and weather o a ew days ago have put the ish deeper and most are suspended, in at bailey cove at 445 pm with the wie and boat owner and over near birdhouse point in the lower mccloud, started throwing about 15t deep and nothing, the wie missed one in about 20 t at 545 and I started going deeper and inally ound some ish at 35 t. shited to worms and used the 157 MGM 4inch or two as the sun went down, lots o boat traic and many houseboats pulling out o the marinas with college kids on board, both ish were skinny as a rail and went about 1.5. Another weather ront is coming or the weekend so things will probably continue to be slow as we approach a normal summer pattern, largemouth should be going pretty good i you can ind them, out at 815 pm, air temp 79degrees, water very murky ater the rain and increased boat traic.

      Water Temp: 68

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: We had hoped to land some largemouth early and hit the northeast side o the lake early on Wednesday (6:30am). No luck at all with Buzzlite buzz bait ished on a slow retrieve in anywhere rom 3-15' o water, both in brush, trees and open water. Ater switching to Mepps Anglia long spinners, we had some hits and caught a ew largemouth, but nothing o any size. Moving around the lake to the north end we trolled a bit and that's when the luck changed. Got a good sized rainbow (14" 2lbs) and lots o hits on the Mepps and Wedding Ring spinners. We continued down the west size o the lake, getting hits but not hooking anything until we were almost to the dam when we netted another rainbow o almost the same size as the irst. More trolling didn't amount to much, nor did casting under trees and into water cover as the day wore on. We probably would have had more luck i we had proper trolling gear to get the bait down a bit deeper. All in all - not a bad day, as the trout were just enough or us to have that nite.

In addition, Pete had bad gas and he ate all my lemon drops.

Report: Went up to the lake yesterday at about 3 pm despite the ront that was moving through. ished rocky points near the dam until about 8 pm, and inally landed my irst sonoma lunker. landed a 6.3 toad on a carolina rigged 4" purple Power rib worm. nice at largemouth buck, and practiced catch and release o course. about ten miutes later broke o on what elt like a much bigger ish due to an improperly adjusted drag. this one stole a craw colored ratt-l-trap. those were my only two hookups. in all a good day despite the wind and occasional periods o rain.

Tips: anyone have any suggestions on what lines i should switch to. i like to use 6 lb. Spider super monoXXX, but it seems like i have been getting broken o a lot lately. suggestions?
