Water Temp: 51-54
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Launched out of Wimpies on Sat and Sun to fish Stripers in the usual areas around the ramp. Fishing was slow if you stayed in one spot. Caught six good ones and no shakers with the largest going 16lbs. Had fun time showing the beginners how to fish stripers using plugs. Also tried a little for Largemouths- only managed one on the d22 on outside weedlines (12'). None on the jig-cold wheather on Sunday really shut them down.
City: Sacramento -
Water Temp: 51-52.9
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Cold, windy, wet and blustrey day greated Mike, Dan and I today on the River. We commited to tossing jigs all day. Caught very few fish today, 6 keepers all day. I had one of those 9 bites, "There he is, damn, it's gone!" kinda days. I was a model fer California Quick Release! HAR! After fishing one long rock wall with out a bite around 2:00pm, I looked to the guys and said, let's go try the two points in that opening to that lake behind us. We idle over and Mike's first pitch to the tree nets an agressive 7 pounder. Inly good fish we boated all day.
City: OakleyTips: With the changing weather and cold temps returning, over all fishing seems to have slowed down in the middle Delta. Water has gotten very dirty everywhere. There are some places where it's still clear. Big fish continue to feed on jigs for us. And my guess is Billy Spence & partner may have gotten his 28 pounds today in that Angler Choice tournament on jigs, ya think maybe? Gonna be an ugly week out there weather wise guys, be safe and be careful on the River!

Water Temp: 50ish
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: went to east delta to prefish for wonbass proam in march. found clear water and stained water.I traveloed and hit a spot here and there. Stained areas were warmer and i only had two bites for over seventeen pounds. The gorillas were right where they have been year after ytear, just bigger.
City: SacramentoTips: For right now check out the migration routes from the main waterways in stained, warmer water. Cruisers are checking it out.Tossing Bob's frogs are a sure bet.

Water Temp: 53'
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Went out for strippers in the morning and caught a few on cranks, the best only 4.8. Around 11, tried for LMB. I was pitching jigs and worms and only had two taps. There was a Tournament still in progress and one boat reported catching limits and I was watching them catch them tight in the tules flipping worms. No size they reported. I moved out to deeper water and fished weed clumps. Put on a helix worm and finally picked up a 5.11oz, released the fish then left at 1pm. Tough fishing and what little bites I had were very light.
City: South SFTips: While I didn't get any fish and only 2 taps, most of the fish I saw being caught were very tight in the tules.

Water Temp: 48-54
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: First trip of the year. Don't forget to get your current license.
3 of us launched out of wimpy's and fished near the "lock area" for about an hour for stripers -- about a dozen boats in the area and saw only one fished boated. We then fished the Beaver/Hog/Sycamore sloughs area (with a ton of other boats) and boated 7 keeper stripers (largest - 11 lbs) and a few small ones. Lost a big fish in Beaver that grabbed the rat l trap and ran under the boat.
We were mainly fishing for stripers, but did manage to catch 1 bass about 1.5 lbs.
Fished only 4 hours.
City: DixonTips: shad colored 3/4 oz Rat L Traps. ""Stop N Go" retrieve worked the best.

Water Temp: 48-51
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Just a slow day but spent most of my time on the water doing something else other than fishing.
Managed a few, nothing larger than 2lbs but lost a larger one that broke line. All on drop-shot in 7-15ft water. Had a few other bites but they got off half way back. I'm new with the drop-shot stuff.
City: stocktonTips: Make sure to respool with new line because I forgot and paid for it with the lost fish. Also remember to have your fishing license with you, I was checked twice by F&G and Sheriff. Tried senko, jerk, and spinner but no takers, totally different from last weekend, fish were deeper.

Water Temp: 53-59
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Spent all day on the water Fri pre-fishing down south. Flipped a blk/blu jig all day in some shallow areas thinking a week of perfect weather might get the big girls moving and move up they did. Considering we left every spot as soon as we got bit in and only rarely set (need to check the quality) we still managed a bit over 22lbs for 5 including a 6.14 & a 6.5 as big fish. Sat morn I poked aroung some central areas again w a jig. Caught about 20 up to 5 1/2lbs but had to work the areas a lot harder for the bites.
Sun we fished the Hook and ran down south again. Bite seemed a lot tougher, sundays after a big tourney usually are. We didn't get many bites in the shallows so we backed out a bit and fished the closest deep water. Got one about 5 1/2 (blk/blu jig) from ledge at or first stop. At our second stop we watched another competetor stick the Big fish of the event,a 7+,, good job dude.. Moved around a bit targeting ledges just outside shallow backwaters. My partner got on an S-20 bite putting 5 or so nice 2-3lb fish in the boat in just a few minutes. Filled out our limit but no more biguns'. Finished 5th w a little under 19lbs, first had 24lbs.

Fished the rock banks for 5 fish using soft plastics, big fish here was 2 lbs, fished the docks for 3 fish using jig in black/red with trailer, big fish was pushing 4 lbs. I lost a good fish at the docks as well, she took a pretty heavy hookset and pulled about 2 feet of line before she spit the jig.
City: East BayTips: jigs by the dock, plastic creature/worm work too.

Water Temp: 50.5 - 53.0
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished in several locations Sunday, I finally found a little clearer water to fish that was right around 52 degrees. Threw blk/blu pig-n-jig
(dark blu pork)TR worms and also did a little crankin. Found fish in 4-8' range, best bite came on TR worm, 7" got all the nice fish all solid 2-3 lb fish, 1 big bite, but missed it.
no fish crankin. I kept the worm moving slow, all bites came on movement, very slow.
City: OakleyTips: Buy the Scent Box! My bait get a soaking yet I use like half of what I used to and a heck of alot less mess.

Water Temp: 48.5
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Went out Saturday for a day of fishing. Had incoming tide the whole time. For some reason, during that tide the bite shut down. Finally picked up a Rattle Trap and caught a couple of good ones. It seems like the fish were more tide sensitive than usual for winter.
City: Stockton -
Water Temp: 51/52
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: That Cooch is just too good with that jig. Winter fishing been hit or miss for me until today. I launched out of New Hope in search of bass in the Northern Delta. Nope too muddy no fish. Then headed south to target the dead end sloughs. Started off with slow rolling spinnerbaits with no takers. Then I went with Cooch's advice and went to the blk/blue Pig and Jig. Second cast 3lb. 10th cast a 3.5lb. These areas were rocky coves with grass as deep as 18ft under the boat which was positioned about 30ft out. I tried to repeat the pattern on other spots. I found that not all banks held fish--so you just have to work it slow and keep searching. Because time didn't permit it, I ended the day with only three but the last one was a 6lber. Thanks Cooch for all the advice--HAR it works.
City: sacTips: Like Cooch says fish deeper this time of year. All my fish came from 12-18 ft rock banks with grass. Definately look for clean water. Hop and move that jig all the way to the boat.

Water Temp: 46.9- 52.5
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished today with James Nevels of Discovery Bay. Decided to test a few new winter time spots in the middle portion of the Delta today. We found a little warmer water in a few of these areas. The fish seemed to be shallower in areas where the temps were above 50. Caught 12 or so keepers today and one dink. Our two bigger fish today, a 6 lb 11oz and a 5 lb 7 oz, both came out of less than 6 foot of water, tight to cover. But deep water was right there close by. Most all of our other fish came out of about 10-12 feet. Jigs on the open rocks and Zippers in the grass worked once again for us. It was an absolute gorgeous day early, then go brisk and cloudy(slowest point or us) then cleared later. We only fished in three basic areas today in the middle Delta, mostly just off the San Jaquine River. Fish were once again grouped or onesey twosies along small stretches of bank.
City: OakleyTips: Keep yer trolling motor in the water, on as low as ya can stand, cover long stretches of bank and try to stay off the top of the fish. All day long, I was pointing out other bass boats to James fishing down different banks, every single one of em was right on top of the fish we wuz catching. It's a common mistake made at this time of year on the river.

Water Temp: 46-49
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Client for today canceled and I decided ta venture out in the storm alone. Rare the ole Coochster gits ta go out and just play fish by his self. Fish wer biten real good today with 14 keepers to 7 lb 9 oz topping the scale for the biggest. Had three other fish over 6.5 pounds as well. All the fish today came off rocky, grass banks with wood in about 6-8 foot. Two of the 6 pounders were right on the bank in about 3 foot and KERTHUNKED that jig as it was falling. I also caught three really nice 3-4 pound fish slow rolling a White Tandem Colorado/Willow blade, with a Chartruese Yamamoto grub. No crankbait or zipper fish today. Purty excellent day considerin I only fished from 10:00a-2:0pm.
City: OakleyTips: Be happy and excited when ya git up in the morning and the weather is bad. SUre fire sign fishin on the river is gonna be good right nw versus them blue bird days. Still have to fish slow and methodical. Stay off the bank and fish yer baits all the way to the boat. With the exception of three shallow fish today, all my fish are still coming 15-20 feet off the banks.

Report: Flipped jig&pig in discovery bay. Boated 4 fish all day 3.5 - 4.2. Not bad fish but slow bite. Tried rip baits, blades, and texas beavers, but caught all fish on the jig. Beautiful day on the delta.
City: brentwoodTips: Jig in crawdad colors did it today for me.
