Report: Sorry about this question here but the fishing forum didnt work for me.

In years past (8-10 years ago) I used to fish for striped bass at Contra Loma in September, I would see them chasing shad all over the lake. Are there still stripers here or are they no longer in the lake in the numbers that used to be?. In the current reports I never see mention of them.
    Thanks,

Report: We fished the boat ramp and the dam without any luck. I threw a bobby's perfect frog in wild bullfrog in the back of the cove and got a blow up but I missed him. We threw out a dropshot with a bold bluegill roboworm, got a 10-11" and we lost a decent sized one. That was it for the day.

    Tips: Throw dropshots and frogs.

Report: I fished on the evenings of the 16th and 17th. On the 16th I fished in the back cove area with jigs and a frog. No frog fish. I could only get a couple small jig fish(1lber and a dink) right at dark. On the 17th, I started in the back cove and got a couple small bites on a jig. No frog fish either, so I decided to go to Cat Tail and throw a white Horny Toad. I caught a dink and a 1lber. That was it.
    City: Antioch

Tips: Fish for more than just a couple hours if you can. You need a little more time to fish more spots and try to figure out the fish. Other than that, I've been stickin the the jig every time I go out and its been working almost every time out. Also, try something different when you can't get anything on the usual. It was the first time I tried the horny toad and it worked for me.

Report: I went out today from about 3 to 8. I started at the boat ramp and caught one dink on a shad colored spinnerbait. I lost another dink around the island. I caught a 1lber on a Sparrow Bobby's Perfect Frog in about a foot of water on top of a mat. I then caught a 2lb. 6oz. frog fish on the same frog in open water near some tules by channel point. I fished my way to the lagoon with a frog, jig, and spinnerbait with no success. I got to the the lagoon rocks and started throwing a 3/8oz Brown Skinny Bear Grizz Flippin Jig with a Plum with emerald flake Yamamoto Craw. On about my 5th cast, I stuck a 4lb. 11oz. jig fish. Two casts later I caught a samll keeper and two casts after that I caught a dink. I got my jig stuck in the rocks and snapped it off and then left.
    City: Antioch

Tips: Walking the frog in open water near tules or twitching it on the mat. Spinnerbaits around weeds and tules. Jigs on rocks or hard and sandy bottoms.

Report: Bad day. started at boat dock. used, buzz, senkos, sweet beavers, nothing but a dink. went along shore worked the spots that didnt have people. one rod kept on getting knots so that was a time taker. eventually got to beginning of north shore to find that over half the lake was closed from shore. fire danger. that stunk because i wanted to try the shore and dock. then all the better spots were filled with bait fishermen so we decided to call it a day.

Report: Went out on the 10th from about 8:30am to 4pm. David and I started at the boat ramp and fished our way to the back cove. Nothing at the boat ramp or island. I caught one dink on a Junebug Super Hog at Channel point. Tried frogs, jigs, drop shot near the swim lagoon but still nothing. David caught a little keeper and a dink on a drop shot at the back dock. I caught dink on a black/brown/watermelon red jig on the point before the cove. I then switched to a brown jig with w purple doulbe tail grub and caught a 3-14. We went the the other point on the opposite side of the cove and I caught a 4-1 on the same jig. We didn't catch a lot of fish, but I did get a couple nice ones. That was it for the day.

Report: Hey Justin. The water level is higher than it was when I last saw you there the day after the pro teen. But its still not all the way up to the normal level. There is some more weed growth it seems. As far as action goes, just read my last couple of reports because those were the last times i have been out there. Some people are catchin them drop shotting in the back cove area as well. I'll most likely fish there this week and will post a report.

Report: Went out yesterday and this evening. Yesterday I fished from 7:45 pm to 9pm. I only fished in and around the cove on the west shore. I lost one fish that felt nice on a 1/2oz black/brown/red jig and had another fish about 5-6lbs jump out of the water after it as I brought it through some weeds on the surface. I caught one 1lb. 4oz. on a 3/16oz brown/black Bass Stalker finesse jig with a Yamamoto baby fat craw in green pumpkin w/ green/purple. I caught one other dink on the jig and missed another. That was it for yesterday. This evening I fished the same area from 6:30 pm to 8:55pm. I started at the corner by the dam and caught a 1lb fish on a 3/8oz brown/black jig with a green pumpkin/red Zoom Super Hog as a trailer. I had a few other bites but they were just dinks playing with the trailer. I lost one about 2lbs that got caught in the weeds. I caught one dink in the cove with the same jig but with a Big Texan Sweat Beaver on it instead. At about 8:40 I got to the point before the cove and on my first cast caught a 5.0lber on the same jig. That was it for the night.
    City: Antioch

Tips: Brown/black jigs fished with a steady, hopping retrieve around rocks and weeds. I assume topwaters would work as there were quite a few fish busting on shad. All I brought were jigs though so I couldn't test out the topwater bite.
