Water Temp: ?
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Started off today at about 1:20 PM near Channel Point. I pitched a Senko around for a while near the tules and grass but with no results. I began flippin the tules on the point to the right of the dock and caught a 1-13 and a dink on a Bloody Bug Sweet Beaver. I fished my way to the point on the other side of the dock. Once at the point, I caught a 1-11 on a brown jig w/ 4" Brown Super Pork Bubba Frog on the inside of a weed line. That fish was a small female which released some eggs after I caught her. I caught a 1-5 on the flat before the swim lagoon on the Beaver which was also a small femal full of eggs. I missed a couple others on the Beaver as well. Later on in the evening,I saw some smaller males moving up to the tules and they seemed to be looking for spawning areas. I saw a few bigger females out further. I tried to catch them but it wasn't happening.
City: AntiochTips: The weather was awesome today. The fish are starting to move up the the beds. The big females are still holding back some. Target tules, weeds, and subtle drop offs with plastics or jigs. Work the lure fairly slow and methodically through possible spawning and staging areas.

Report: Hey Tom, was that you and your kid out on the first....talked to 3 guys in a blue bass boat?
Any heres my report for the 1apr06
Hit the lake around 930 Im not sure anyway fished with my friends matt and jeff from matts boat. Started some what slow with just a couple small ones. Cought and then lost a fish that would poribably have been a nice runner for the lake reccord on a crank bait. Kept fishing my buddy lost another big one on a senko we cought a few more fish around 4lbs and smaller and called it a day
City: PittsburgTips: Fish are still in prespawn mode crusing out deeper on flats and near the steeper banks not too many fish cought right on the shore.

Report: Any stillwater flyfisherman out there who have fished Contra Loma for bass or trout? Any input on fishing this lake with flies or for other methods for trout would be appreciated. I know this is a Bass webpage but I live 5 minutes from this lake, have a small boat, and would like to get my young kids into some fish.

Report: Tubed out today from 2pm to 5pm. Used jigs, dropshot, spinner, texas rig creature and etc. The result is terrible; I didn't get a single bite at all. Fish the tullies, and the dam. I am wondering if its me doing something wrong or its just that its still slow? O wellz, i guess at least i tried today.

Water Temp: Probably low 50
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I did a little hog hunting today and it paid off. I hit the lake at about 2:45 PM with just a Huddleston swimbait and a big jig n pig. I started fishing the east side on the rocks but had no success. I headed down south towards the boat ramp a little ways. I fished the jig and swimbait on the transition point from rocks to sand and missed one bit on the jig. I continued to pitch and flip my jig in the tules whiled heading towards the boat ramp, but didn't get touched. I came to the big tree on the east side and pitched the jig around the tules, but still nothing. I decided to try a little deeper and pitched my 1/2oz Black Skinny Bear Grizz Flippin Jig w/ 3.5" Black/Blue Super Pork Senior Frog past and between a little tule point and sparse tule clump. I hopped that jig a few times, felt a subtle bite and weight, and set the hook. I knew right away it was a good fish as she headed straight for the tules. After a brief, but healthy and heart-pounding battle, I managed to land my biggest bass to date at 8lbs. 8oz. Just barely beating my prevoius personal best of 8lbs. 6oz. that I caught almost three years ago at Loma on a buzzbait. She was extremely healthy and full of eggs--a beautiful fish. I caught her at about 4:15 PM,but didn't catch anything else after that. I left at 5:30 PM.
City: AntiochTips: From my results today and talking to others, it seems the fish are starting to stage and move up shallower. My big girl today was only in about 4-5 feet of water, but wasn't way up in the shallow stuff. I didnt' get any bites really shallow. I would recommend to target a little deeper water on the outside of tules with a big jig or plastics.

Water Temp: still a bit col
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Went out 2 days ago and as usual, did ok when it rained and the wind howled. This time fought the wind in my tube. 2 bass over 3 lbs. hit buzzbaits off the dam. Saw stripers schooling trout on my fish finder. And yes, there are BIG fish here. Got a 28 lb. striper in October that swallowed a swimbait and largemouth 11.4 lbs on a huge senko and trout to 13 lbs. I ALWAYS manage trout over 5 lbs. throwing big bass lures.
City: AntiochTips: One thing I've learned in 4 years fishing Contra loma (avg. 3 days a week) is don't be affraid to throw big baits. I have caught a lot of great bass drop shotting, but I have forced myself to get fewer bites and take only larger fish on large baits. My favorite are rainbow trout and bluegill swimbaits and 10" and 12" plastic worms. Right now is actually a great time to hook a larger bass on a shad pattern crankbait also.

Report: Very cold and raining...didn't stop 'em from hitting. Caught 7lb. bass on Lucky Craft lipless crankbait near dam. Also snagged someone's broken line. Started to pull the tangled line off my lure when it pulled back. Managed to land a striper well over 15 lbs....still alive! All in all a good trip despite the weather.
City: AntiochTips: Try draggin' the bottom...you never know what you might hook into!

Report: Thanks Alot Tom. I'll try your techniques. I am really appreciated for your information. I odn't think the weather is going to warming up for at least another week or 2. wellz. I'll see you around. Most of time I will be tubing out there.

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Hey Tim,
Right now is tough, but with a warming trend over due, It will pick up. These fish are in a pre spawn mode(try the 2 points on either side of the cove opposite the boat ramp). You'll know when they are warmed up as the will literally have their noses pressed against the shore.
City: AntiochTips: When the water does warm, I do best with either a green senko or drop shotting a yamamoto green worm which I dye the tail black. I got one bass last year 11.4 lbs this way. Idid pick up 2 decent fish the other day on a swim bait and a buzz bait but it was tough. I will most likely be out again tomarrow....good luck.
