FRIDAY afternoon was a good day on the water one of my fishing buddy was up here and did very well on bass to 4 pounds the big ticket was watermelon senko;s fished wacky style in 3 to 10 feet of water all caught in the 5mph area the bass are starting to work the shallows now and there are some bed fish. IN 5 hours he caught 15 bass from 2 to 4 pounds traffic is heavy on week ends lite on week days. also watch for rattle snakes and some rock piles are not marked.
    City: kerman ca

Tips: senko's dead stick them wacky style works best in watermelon color & also watermelon red/black flake

Report: A buddie and I hit Eastman shortly after sun up. Went to the dam and pounded the shore counterclockwise to the keep out section. My buddie Chris slayed some nice fish on a spinnerbait as I nabbed a 2pnd trout and two dinks on a drop shot and darter head. It was a little windy at the start, but it died down after a few hours. When the wind left so did the blade fish. Senko and drop shot fish took over after that.
    City: Tulare

Tips: Wind = blades, no wind = plastic: (For us anyways) Q: can someone email with the reason for the closure of that nice looking piece of lake. I've only been to Eastman 4 times and I have always wondered.

    Water Temp: 55 to 60 +

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: dont let the wind full you some of the best fishing on the east banks of the lake can produce some nice bass to 4 lbs. 1/4 to3/8 oz brown/purple jig with a twin or single tail smoke w/purple and black flake ( yamamoto )grubs works well fish are in 3 to 12 feet of water. weekend traffic is very heavy as there is only one ramp open. early morning or late afternoon around 5:00 pm the bite picks up again some top water action on big zara spooks & rico's. senko's will also work on bass in the shallows hook wacky style watermelon red/black flake.
    City: kerman

Tips: when it windy here trick is fish with a 3/8 to 1/2oz jigs or if throwing top water big zara spooks or big buzzbaits 1/2 oz work best fish the points & around rock pilesjust under the water& bushes these all hold fish when it windy. some of my best fish ever caught there is when the lake was white capping.

    Water Temp: 62-63

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished Monday afternoon from 2:30pm till 7:30pm. It was tough fishing in the wind, but finally found some relief as far back in the 5mph zone as you can go. From 5:30 till 7:30 the bite really picked up. The fluke and senko bite I was hoping for finally materialized. I also had quite a few bites on a spinner bait. Those fish were all two cranks off the bank. These little cold fronts we keep having are frustrating. Saw lots of fish on the graph in the 15-25ft range but had no luck with the drop shot. Might not have been bass, but the marks on the graph looked great. A few more warm days and a full moon should help. The lake looks great a full pool. All the little pockets in the back looked perfect with bushes, wood, rocks, etc. in the water.
    City: Clovis

Tips: Bite should keep getting better if we can hold on to some stable weather along with the full moon.

Report: Lots of boats had already gone back behind the 5mph buoys so I headed to the east shoreline near the keep out buoys and fished pretty much to the ramp on the east side. I fished from before 7 to 11:30 and had about 10 bites. Boated 7 fish for the day. Best 5 went about 12lbs. I had one around 4lbs and one around 3lbs. Most bites came on pearl flukes. I also had one on a pointer and one a spinner bait. Got most bites very close to shore. Curious how others did. Talked to two other fishermen and they stuggled to catch fish. The bite should really bust loose soon. Keep your eye on Eastman through April. The lake is full and lots of cover in the water. The water has a coffee color to it, so visability was an issue. I like to watch the fluke fall, but you couldn't watch is for long before it dissappeared.
    City: Clovis

Tips: I had to really slow down my fluke presentation to get bit. Let it fall a little longer than usual, especially on the initial cast. Got a lot of my bites before I even moved it the first time. Monitor the weather the next couple of weeks. The bite should get really good soon.

    Report: Clarification on water temp:

    Water Temp: 63-64 dam area

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: A cool spring day. Cloud cover all day long and warming water during the week allowed fish to move shallow. The water had a tanic stain to it. Approx 20 fish caught in 3 to 10 ft of water. Best 3 fish were 6, 5 and 3. The 3lb fish came on a brwn/prpl jig early, down by the dam, all of the other fish came on a wtrmln/red Senko related to shallow cover in a warmer part of the lake. Cover was anything from a single dead weed stick-up to green brush. All of the fish hit on the initial sink of the bait so pitching worked well, effectivley covering every target. Two pound fish were several, quickly admired and released. What a lake! All fish were released alive. Total wt for the 3 fish, 13.82 lbs
    City: Modesto

Tips: NEVER give up. 5lb fish came at the ramp 10 minutes before weigh-in. "One more cast"...
