Report: Fished clear lake or the irst time and was a little dissapointed in the numbers, but the quality was as expected... Drove up rom Bakersield area with no clue where on the lake to ish, so tried tule edges with 2 ish wanting plastics. Moved to mid lake on some rocky shoreline and ound one area where we ended up with, 2-5lbrs., 1-4lbr., and 5 in the 3lb. range... Not bad or total ishing time o about 5 hours... Is the alge this bad every year at this time? Didn't even want to jump in to cool o with so much green water... Hope to come back sometime and try again... What is the best time o year? By the way, tried several dierent things but caught all o our ish on carolina rigged with 6" worm in texas craw color... Over all, NICE LAKE!

Report: The bass ishing was terrible. Tried top water, cranck baits, jerk baits and worming. Nothing worked. Went back by the dam and did some trout ishing. Caught my limit in about 2 1/2 hours. Could have limited sooner but missed too many hits not paying attention. Smallest trout was 2 pounds. Biggest was 41/2. I weighed them so no I am not exagerating. Good day ater all. Caught them all on rainbow powerbait out as deep as I could cast. I I had 2 anchors I would have just anchored o shore.
City: HaywardTips: Trout are deep. Use powerbait. Bass were non-existant or me.

Water Temp: 69-75
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Fished Frank's to Mildred Sunday. Had a airly good day with over 20 ish, but the biggest only went 3.7#. No rog ish or topwater, seems the cooling water has hurt this bite. Did catch ish lipping plastics, draging plastics in current, ripping blades through the weeds, and even one or two on a Senko. While I did ind ish moving shallow as the day progresed most ish came a little deeper in the 6-10 oot range.
City: BrentwoodTips: Found a heavier weight helped trigger the ish into biting. All the ish over 2# came with an eratic action or ast drop. Had several dart at the bait as I pulled it up o the bottom or out o the weeds.

Report: Tough ishing or June. Had a club deal out there and only 4 or 5 limits out o almost 20 olks ished. Most olks came in with 2 or 3 keepers (we use the card system, so 13+"ers were keepers). Best bite seems to be up river past the bridge on grubs. The other pattern that was catching some ish were inding wind blown points and ish reaction baits on them. Otherwise, it was slow, slow slow ... Was HOT too.Ninja

Water Temp: cold
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: I ished Check point 12 at the san luis creek area. It's my avorite spot or catish, black bass, and stripped bass. Most o the time only small stripped bass will bite but occasionally someone will land a 15-20 inch stripped bass. Most catish I catch are small so they are released but I always get one that is 5-10lbs. I they are more than 10lbs I also let them go.Catish at san luis has no size limit and no bag limit but a good sports ishermen should let the small ones go and not take more than you should.
City: San JoseTips: As soon as the sun begins to set, the catish will go crazy. They will bite immediatly i you are using clams. They will take a while to bite on anchovies, liver, worms. For stripped bass, I am always bait ishing. I use liver because they seem to love it more than anchovies but liver is harder to bait. For black bass, go where all the rocks are against the shore and pick your avorite lure and start ishing. I've seen some people accidentally catch 20 inch stripped bass.

Report: The wie and I went up late Saturday or a last minute whim camping trip. Got the tent set up and was on the water about 6:30 p.m. Caught a ew topwater ish on a Cultiva popper, nothing o any size, 1 1/2 pnds. Fished irst light bite next morning. Only so so again. Few on a Sammy, most on a Super Fluke. Ater sun started coming up, ishing the shadows seemed to be the key. Large rock banks that dropped o deep real quick. No plastics bite, had to make 'em bite with the Fluke. Just learning the lake, so could have probably done better.

Report: My son Austin and I started ishing points and small pockets in the jackson creek area.had acouple o blow ups on a sumo rog.then ished the mud line and caught a 3lber on a berkely 12" worm in blue leck.moved to the south side o the creek caught a 4lber on that worm.ished all the main lake point that night without much action .caught three bass on a black compeditive edge spinnerbait on only one certain point by the spillway.all those were rom a 1.6lbs to 2.8lb At irst light had a couple o blow ups on a persader buzzbait in white and caught two by the bout ramp they where 2lbers. Water Temp: 78-83
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Got on the lake at 8PM and evening bite was tough . Fished mainly topwater and senkos but nothing .Never saw anyone else catch a ish o any kind the whole time either. I didn't even bring any splitshot gear this trip but I think it was probably needed. Saw massive schools o shad swimming up and down the shorelines eeding un-molested by the bass. First ish around midnight (3 lbs) on black brushhog. Did not get that many bites but they were consistantly spread out thru the night . In the morning when the sky started to lighten started throwing topwater again and only hooked one ish (2.5 lbs) out o ive blow ups on buzz bait. Small bass and trout were now working the shad on surace. Trailered boat at 7AM . Five bass or around 13 lbs. all released alive.
City: PioneerTips: The bass ater dark seemed to be coming rom around the shoeline weed beds. Some bites came as the lure was sinking (these were easy) and others as lure was crawling thru weeds. These ish would just sit there with the lure in their mouth and it was hard to discern the weeds rom the ish. Gently liting the rod would cause the ish on the end to A: start to swim o or , B: nearly rip the rod out o your hands but when you set the hook nothing. I you gave the ish too much time trying to decide i it was or wasn't a bite they would swallow the bait so I started setting the hook on almost everything. Good luck,Hydro

Berryessa Lake
-
Water Temp: 81
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: I took a grandpa and his delightful 14 year old grandson to the Berryessa oven yesterday afternoon and night. We started out of Markley Cove at 6 pm, with the temp right at 100 degrees. We fished split-shot Magic worms in # 11, 29, and 62 colors. The first and last worked, as we caught about 5 before dark, including a great 2 1/4 lb smallmouth. We caught that around Big Island, since I had determined that the narrows was a zoo - you would have thought it was a weekend. Wow, I wonder what weekends are like at Berryessa now - I don't plan to find out!!! I decided we would do our night fishing around Berryessa Marina and Big Island and it proved to be a good decision. I had a ball competing with the 14 year old - he wanted to beat me - and he did 8 to 7!!!! He had most of the bites, using a 7" black Berkley Power Worm, my favorite for Berryessa nights. The worms I was using must not have been so great - yea, that was it! The most bass he had caught on any previous trip was one. I think he's catching on!!!! Grandpa struggled a bit, but did manage two, and lost a couple. They did have a double hookup. We wound up with 17 total bass, but the size is what impressed me. All but 4 of our bass were 14 to 17 1/2 inches - and most were smallmouth. I am not interested in big numbers - I prefer to put my clients on quality bass, and was surprised at the quality of these bass, considering the weather conditions. We only fished areas with flats near steep dropoffs. Not only was the trip a lot of fun, the lake was as beautiful at night as I have ever seen - dead flat calm. The planet Mars looked great in the dark sky!
City: Yuba CityTips: Fish are deep during the day, but move up at night to feed. We found most of the bass right on the bank, since it was the dark of the moon! Try to get your bait to hit the water with little splash, or hit the bank and drag it in.

Folsom Lake
-
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: As usual, the morning was still elsewhere except at Folsom. Went up the North Fork looking or lat water and inally ound some with rocky points on the north side. I had a good topwater bite until 6:30 AM on a small, shallow running plug (an old Poe plug) and caught our 13 to 15 inch Spots. Then it just quit. Finally on a very small crank bait, I caught three more around six inches! I was home by ten. Nothing doing on plastics --tried magic worms and rootbeer grubs.First skiers went by about 6:45. I hate the jet skis too but its worse when some guy in a ranger revs up all 200hp to show you how much boat he has. At least the jet skiers don't understand...

Water Temp: 79-81 degrees
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Went out about 11:30 today. I started out ishing in the south end and spotted about an 8 pound cruiser. I grabbed a 4" Husky jerk in the trout pattern and made a ew casts. It was amused and came over to it, only to lose interest and continue its cruise. I also hooked another bass I'd guess to be only about a pound or so as I pitched a bit in the tulles. It managed to get o, but not beore it ripped the legs o o my brush hog. Later I ound some large humps o vegetation in the east cove and made some casts with a Shad Rap RS in the perch pattern. I got one bass that looked to be about 3 and 1/2 pounds to ollow it very closely to the boat, only to swim back to the depths. Three close encounters and nothing to show or it. Oh well. I guess my luck ran a little thin today. I talked with another guy who said he didn't see anything out there. The water was a good temperature and most o the ish I encountered were active. I lipped and pitched around with a Baby Brush Hog quite a bit but only got that one ish I mentioned to hit.
City: Pleasant HillTips: I've heard and experienced that perch patterned baits can be productive. I think those big humps in the east cove are a good bet, along o course with the weed edges. Most o these are in about 10 to 15 eet o water, so a deep diving crank in a good pattern is a good thing to ish as you arrive to each new location.

Water Temp: 75
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: in at 505am at Jones Valley, temp 68, water down to 41.6t, ran over near mariners point, tossing a surace plug or three blowups but no hook ups, got out my 109 thinga mo bobs that John at MGM made or me and caught 5 on the next 7 casts, best spot was a 2.8, and had a 2.2 black and a 1.8 smallmouth, irst time I have ever caught all three species in same day and there went the last o my 109's, they were all banged up, tried to put a couple back together by heating them with a cigarette lighter but only managed to burn my inger, moved over to a submerged hump in ort Creek and dredged up a scrappy smallmouth on a bps pumpkin pepper grub, the smallmouth are coming back, at 7 a wakeboard boat started running around me and made a pass or two at less than 50 t so I moved ater waving at the idiot. moved around a bit or some dinks over by the rockpile and headed or the ramp at 845am with the same ski nautique that was buzzing me now in ront o me and going the same direction, he's about a 100 yards in ront o me and just passing the little point outside o the Jones Valley ramp, there is a hump coming up between that point and the loat and it was only 12 inches deep this morning, I get to the point andd swing out wide when guess what I see, Yep, the ski nautique is aground amongst a bunch o brown water, I try to keep a straight ace and motor on by these people but the guy with the paddle who is cussing up a blue streak darn near makes me lose my lunch. I did the right thing when he waved at me, I waved back and continued to the loat, I look back and he is out in the water now with the little waves lapping his legs below the knees, say goodbye to about 4 grand worth o shat, screw and struts. Like my daddy used to say "just wait son and the lord will provide"
