Report: Fished the Rally this last weekend out o Lakeport. Not having been on the lake since early spring, I made long runs to the rock piles in the south end o the lake. Having heard the reports o the many crawdad sightings rom those who pre-ished, I tied on and stuck with my conidence bait a 1/2 oz brown jig with 164 twin tail Yamamoto trailer. Best bite or me was in the morning sessions up until about 11:00am. At irst I was not getting any takers on the jig rom 2'-25', as I was slowly crawling my jig on the bottom. I then began to drastically change the cadence, which began to trigger strikes. Man, they wanted that jig a hoppin and jumpin. I lost 7 really good ish beore I put my irst 5 pounder in the boat. I had to change rods and go to a 6'6" and 7' heavy to get a good solid hookset at the depth I was catching my ish. The bite was very strange and subtle. Jumping around to various rock ledges, I was able to start o with a 9.99 2 ish limit, they all came rom 25' to 35' o water. And my partner stuck one about 4#. I made a serious mistake sticking to these rock piles during the aternoon session, as I would learn the ollowing day. We blanked Saturday aternoon, no keepers but a ew 12.75" ish on the bluegill(214) SENKO around docks. The jig combo paid o right away on Sunday, but the irst bite I got was an enourmous TOAD, which I lost. I believe I lost two ish well over 10 pounds and another around 8 on the jig pattern the entire weekend, it was very rustrating to get the bites and loose these ish. I ended up catching our 3+ keepers and my partner got one around 4# too. We then began to lip our jigs into the loating vegitation, creating a dark, cool canopy, along various rocky banks. I stuck a nice 5 pounder and a couple o smaller ish that wouldn't keep. I ended up with 8+ pounds on Sunday's session. This is the pattern I should have went to on Saturday aternoon. We ished Spooks or the irst 30 minutes each morning with no takers and also had no blow ups on Frogs over the two days. The topwater bite was just not happening in the areas I was ishing.
      City: Oakley

Tips: Stay deep. Take advantage o the crawdad explosion and ish craw imitating jigs. These big ClearLake bass are suspended out in the middle o the deeper areas o the southern part o the lake. They will periodically move up onto the various underwater humps and ledges to eed. It's slow ishing, but when you git one, it's gonna be a good one, just ask Seaters about Chris' 13.97. As the day moves on and the sun rises, look or the overgrown vegitation on the deeper rock banks. Drop jigs & SENKOs down into the pockets to the waiting ish hunkered below. When working the docks in the deeper areas, the best strike zone or these bigger ish is gonna be the last hal o the dock, right on the edge o the shaded side and out 10-15' past the end o the dock. For numbers o ish, mostly 12-15", toss SENKOs up to the bank and work them under the shallow protion o the docks.

IF ANYONE HAS ANY TIPS on NIGHT FISHING at this lake i'd appreciate it....good fishin'!
      City: orinda

Tips: use your electronics...find the fish first...they are not really aggressive, but if you lucky you can entice one or two of them to grab on....they are very full of shad.

Report: Mark Lassagne's Gone Fishing guide service Launched from Holland @ 5:30am, we caught a few bass in the marina on buzz baits, then proceeded to work rock and weed banks to Woodward with only a few bites, with the wind blowing 30mph we had a hard time finding anywhere to fish, at about 10:30 we found a rock bank near Coney that was loaded with fish we cranked the 1/4 oz speed trap white and the chart/blue and caught about twenty five bass down a two mile strech of bank. Mid outgoing tide and almost bare rock bank, major wind and current. At the end of the day the wind slowed and we wnet back to woodward and Glenn lost a monster bass on a Mack's Spinnerbait.

Report: This report is a bit late because o the rally. Thurs aternoon-night, partner and I caught 11 bass up to 5 3/4, mostly on #240 Senkos and Weapon jigs-Power Worms at night. We each caught a topwater ish on Chug Bugs at Buckingham point - 2-13 and 4-9. The big ish jinx continues or me as I hooked a 10+ lb bass on a Senko at 6:45 pm, north o Konocti Resort. Had her on or about 2 1/2 minutes, survived two jumps, and still lost her. That one broke my heart! The next cast produced a 5 on the same #240 Senko. I think that is a good color!! I let my partner o at 3 am and went back out or 2 hours and caught more 4 and 5 pounders in a short period than I have in a long time. Biggest was 7-5 - all were caught on 10" black power worms except one on a spinnerbait and one on a crankbait (black). Ended the 11 hour ishing session with 21 bass - the ive biggest at 27-3 lbs. Friday I was asked to take out a grampa and 2 grandsons who had been at Clear Lake all week and had not caught a ish. Took them out o M&M or two hours, starting at 11 am. The youngest grandson (11) caught a 4-2 on a splitshot morning dawn Magic worm. I couldn't believe it. He got it in on his own rod - 8 lb test!! That gave me a warm eeling all over. I even got a 3-7 on a white Terminator spinnerbait at 12:45 on a rockpile. The other grandson missed two. We were ishing on the west shore in the rattlesnake arm.
      City: Yuba City

Tips: I think the below average night bite might be turning around, maybe because we have several days o consistant weather. Fish are on rockpiles, ledges, and walls. The jig bite is good this year. Remember to look or shadows during ull moon periods. Open rockpiles are tough during the ull moon, unless the algae builds up.

Report: returned to the area o Marshmallow point at 830pm and had numerous hits but the ish were hitting short, Mark and I could not get anything in the boat except or 4 just legal ish, very rustrating, we ished during the beginnings o a lightning storm which never made it to us but sent a lot o wind our way, ish suspended in 3-12 t o water in a 6 inch to 2 t chop, hard to eel the bites and they were sot, air temp dropped to a comy 77, water at 80 degrees and what a light show we had most o the night, all lighting o to the east and northeast, we must have had 40 taps a piece but no manner o crawling or bouncing the jigs could get those ish to stay on. Ended up over by the Gap or a ew and went home at 2AM. Lake down to 50 eet and the releases appear to be slowing down. The lake is chock ull o small bass o the year and they just smack anything thrown in.
