Report: Topwater ishing or smallmouth and largemouth was great in the early morning beore the sun came up and the watercrat really hit the lake. I hit 4 smallmouth about 2 lbs. on Heddon Stickbait and a injured Minnow in about 15 eet o water rom the Whiskey Creek bridge east to the blanket. There is a lot o salad in the water down only a oot below the surace in and around the small coves. Lots o Bluegill in those spots i you need a little un. I hit 2 large bluegill about 3/4 o a lb apiece along with the usual 25 to 30 small ones.Hitting the bass early with topwater worked the best or me, but I did hit a couple o 2 pound bass late in the coves where there aren't any swimmers.Remember to get your day use passes or your annual passes because the Rangers are checking. I don't know what the ine is, but you know the National designation will mean big bucks are due i you're caught.Special Note: The annual pass or Whiskeytown Lake is good as the same pass to get into Lassen Park.
      City: Redding

Tips: topwater lures and spoons ished near the top early in the morning...like beore the sun comes up... are the best or Large and Smallmouth bass.

Report: Got on a major frog bite going in the Whites area, white tournament frog worked over the yellow/green scum mats, what a blast! When that bite died down went to cranking a green craw bomber 6a on rockey (not rip rap) areas with current and started pounding em. at one point had four fish on four cast with two better than three and lost one more well over five. Work these areas in both directions.

Report: Yesterday's trip was a guide's dream! Took a nice ella and his 11 year old son - who really knew how to handle a rod and reel. They had ished Amador a ew time, but never had caught any bass. The boy caught the irst ish - a Warmouth bass. Don't see many o those. The worm bite was slow, so we tried topwater as the sun dipped and the shadows ormed. I had the ather and son using Storm chug bugs. In the irst 10 minutes the boy landed his irst 2 bass ever - on topwater - a 3 1/4 and then ater a big explosion and good ight, I net a 4 pounder. Incredible!! The look on his ace reminded me why I'd rather guide than ish tournaments. He caught another, about 2 lbs. I got one or two on a spook. Dad never got one - but he did catch a ew worm ish at night. Ater we started night ishing in the Mountain Spring arm, who caught the irst bass - junior, o course!! He landed a 3-7 on a 7" Berkley Power Worm. A pro in the making!!! Dad and son were using 6 and 7" worms and catching nice ish - I was using a 10' Power Worm catching smaller ish. Go Figure!! I did get a nice one on a crankbait about midnight. We wound up with 13 - no monsters, but a great trip!
      City: Yuba City

Tips: I think Amador is turning around a bit - not great ishing, but better than earlier months. Crank bite is good - I need to do more o it!! Lake hed good color, too.

Report: Thurs evening very windy. 2-3'waves in rattlesnake arm @ 7:30. Cranked several rock piles to no avail. Headed or sheltered water. Broke one o on senko under dock. Found deep tulies in konocti bay and caught 3 ish to 2.5lbs on senkos beore dark. At dark, headed to deep point and ished only heavy line rod I had hooked up w/ 3/8 oz jig. Only had 2 bites by 10:15, but they were twins, 7.3 lbs each. Welled them and had a picture taken or evidence at konocti resort. Very slow ater that till 12:20 when I caught 4 in one spot--3 keepers and one 8"ish. These last 4 caught on 10" power worm. 9 ish total by 2:20. I came upon a boat at 2 am on one o my spots. They had thrown crankbaits all night and hooked 6-7, but only landed one.

      Water Temp: low 70's

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: July 15 was the 2nd annual Pro-Teen Bass Tournament. Alot of the fishermen including myself were catching them on Gary Yamamoto's senko worms. The worms were working ok when fished really slow. The nice droping rate was attracting the fish, but it was hard to fish that slowly in a tournament, so often we would throw a darker colored buzz bait and a spinner bait.
      City: Foresthill, Ca.

Tips: watch the clarity of the water and the tide in the delta for your lure selections, the darker water use a green to brown worm.

Report: Finally got out, Had to the family vacation thing. Launched out of Orwood with everybody else who owns a jet ski, or ski boat. Fished middle river, and a couple of cuts off that. Fishing was real tough, until I accidently found somebodys honey-hole. threw black/red jigs, these fish ran with them into deep water. Some I couldn't reel fast enough to set the hook. Best 5 fish went easy 15+ Finally the jetskiers found me, the bite was gone. And so was I (1:00PM)
      City: Concord

Tips: USED AN ERATIC RETRIEVE, THEY SEEMED TO BE ON A REACTION BITE. NO TOPWATER BITE, THE FROG DIDN'T EVEN GET A GAS BUBBLE FROM A BASS.

Report: Launched outta big break early, about 6:15am. Lots of trailers for a anglers choice tourney. We took a ride to the back side of jersey island. Very deep water and very fast current. Started out throwin crawdad color rattlin rapala. Picked up a smallie first 15 minutes. My father-n-law was throwin a 1/2 ounce blue/black, single blade spinner, and bam!!! Picks up a 5 pound plus! He proceeds to pick up 2 more about 2-3 pounds and we decide to run out to franks tract. Noy much going on in franks tract, but started trollin a long rock bank outside franks. Throwin the same rattlin rapala and within 5 minutes started pickin up fish after fish. About 3 in a row, all at least 2 pounds. Probably would've had a chance for more, but on the third fish. while taking the hook out. my line got into the O ring on the crankbait! Had to take a minute to retie and missed some valuble spots. Wind started pickin up, so we decided to head back and we stopped at where we originally started in the morning. Dad-n-law immediatly picked up another 5+ on the spinner. I decided to throw a red speed trap that ended up hookin on a 4+ pounder. Dad-n-law picked up a few more small ones. All in all turned out to be one of our better days so far.
      City: Oakley

Tips: We seemed to have an awful lot of good fortune in deeper water, with some good current. Seems like fish are staying close to current and attacking as baits come by. Cranks, cranks, cranks. Our best 5 today about 15 pounds. Don't be afraid to try some deeper water!!

Report: Launched out of holland marina this mornin about 8:00. Fished some new water. Did not get a bite untill 2:30. Fished frogs, spinnerbaits, and senkos. All 3 fish I did catch were on senko's, 6 and 7"(black w/blue fleck) I caught my first fish on the 6" while flippin a tule island. I flipped my bait into a small shade pocket and my line started movin'. The very next shade pocket procuced another fish. Both the fish I caught on the 6" were dinks so I put on a 7" and kept on flippin it into the shade pockets. Jumped ahead to the next tule island and flipped my senko into a shady patch of water and sure enough caught a 4lber. That was it, was out of the water by 4:00.
      City: tracy

Tips: Dont get hung up on how you were catchin em the other day. As soon as I changed my approach I started catching fish.
