Water Temp: 58-61
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Due to high wind water has a great color. Big fish 9+# being caught on plastics on leadheads. A note to the new guys out there. I,ve seen the removel of some of our Calero giants in the name of recognition by your piers or what ever( I doubt these fish were for food) in the last few trips out. The best fisherman brings a camera, snaps some shots, then PUTS THEM BACK!!! Once these fish are gone we all loose. We loose a precious resorce, loose the span and deplete our fishery.

Report: I went out today at around 9:30 and did pretty good. I started fishing around Bailey and didnt get anything so I started waqlking toward the launch ramp. Then I hit my first fish. He was pretty nice around 4 pounds. Then I moved down a little bit and got one that was a little under 2 pounds. then I moved to a point that I have done well at and I nailed a nice one that was 5+. That one really surprised me
City: San joseTips: I have been getting all of my fish on power worms or zipper worms. In a brownish crawdad color.

Report: No report. Just want to commend Kris for his last post. I couldn't agree with you more! Take a camera, snap a pic, and release them. Besides, nothing pretty about a pic of a guy holding up a dead Bass as he poses in his garage!
City: San JoseTips: Take nothing but photographs, leave nothing but footprints.

California Delta

Water Temp: 63
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Made my first fishing trip into the Delta for Largemouth. My buddy and I launched from Turner Cut and ran up to Fourteen mile Slough. We threw spinnerbaits and jigs but had no luck. We returned and fished through Turner Cut and Empire Slough. We ended up on Mildered Island and fished the brush, we got a couple of very soft bites but were unable to stick the fish. We trolled away from the brush using Rapala minnows and my buddy caught a striper. As we continued out of Mildred Island, we started throwing into the tules at 4:30 pm. I caught a 11" largemouth and within the next 25 minutes boated a 2-1/2 pounder, a 1-1/2 pounder and a 1 pounder all on pumpkin/chartreuse lizards.
City: ModestoTips: The pumpkin/chartruese lizards seemed to work. My buddy was throwing various worms and spinners but never got a bite.

Water Temp: 58`
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: I know the Delta is an awesome area to fish and just by reading the reports it's obvious. The problem with being new to the Delta is everything looks good, throw in the changing tides, wind and the fact that it's so big, you get the results I did today.... NADA. I threw BLK&BLU jigs, junebug Brush Hogs, tiger & crawdad Speedtraps, peanutbutter & jelly Zippers, white & char. spinnerblades, everything except the beef jerky I was eatin. I'm starting to think that you have to pay your dues here before you get to catch any fish. OK, enough wining. The Delta will either make a Fisherman out of you or lead you to heavy drinking.
City: AntiochTips: Don't give up. Pay close attention to the Guys who have paid their dues. Hell, if all else fails, follow them BASS BOATS around. : )

Berryessa Lake

Water Temp: 60
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: For the guys who fish Berryessa, Berryesa marina is free launch and parking until May 1 2000. Well got a late start fishing but every march I try to work the same color every year and it seems to pay off. Started fishing the shallow water coves going up to the north end of Putah creek. I was using a 3/8 chartruse blade #5 spinner bait I made, and was able to stick 3 largemouths to 3lbs then I switch to a 4 inch black grape with chartuse tail I poured just a week before and nailed 7 to 3lbs, then I went in the cove as far back as I could get my boat and counted atleast 20 largemouths schooling around I flipped my 4" worm in the 3 foot gin clear water and was able to coax a 2 1/2 lber.
City: FairfieldTips: With the rain coming in on Friday night and saturay the fish may back out into deeper water. I was slow rolling the spinner bait and shaking and hopping the worm give it a try.

Report: Hi kids, bladed early and threw in some plastics as well for about 21# by 9:30a. Got two 6#'rs early one on plastics(junebug zipper) and one on a spinnerbait. Lots of heavy 3# fish on plastics (other than zippers) the rest of the day. Tide was good for me just as it started to swing the other way. Fish very responsive to its movement on points. At one point I hooked 5 fish in consecutive casts. So they can be found in groups. Biggest fish were loners or it seemed that way. If you just want to get bit then throw plastics. If you want big fish throw a blade early then switch to cranks and keep your bait as close to cover as much as possible. I don't talk about jigs cause I wanna get those 8#'rs.
City: Mountian viewTips: Mavrics worms out of Lakeport Tackle are excelent plastics, they are very soft and fish seem to realy hang on. I have had a lot of success on my local lakes with them and would recomend you call Lakeport Tackle and ask for them to send you a sample box. They'll charge you for it but you won't be disappointed. I've won tournaments with them.

Water Temp: 55-65
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Had a tough day fishing Big Break and Frank's Tract areas. Was trying to locate some new water, but after several hours without a bite I went to some old faithful water. Only got a couple of bites even on known good water. Water is very dirty - 2 to 6 inches of visibility was about all I could find. There was some clear water in the weed beds of Emerson. Both shallow and deep fish were inactive. Water should clear up soon if the wind stays down.
City: BrentwoodTips: Go with bigger baits with a lot of water displacement. I like the ReAction Lures Gator Dog which is something of a cross between a brush hog and a zipper worm.

Report: Fished the Delta on a guide trip with Steve and Shanna Majerek from Oregon. Had a great time with this father/daughter duo as we started out from the Hook with moderate breezes. We caught a number of fish throughout the day and it was quite special to have Steve git the first one on a black jig at about 3.5 pounds. I had Shanna tossing a Red Speed Trap but she was having troubles with the wind. So I sent dad to the back of the boat and brought here up with me to teach her how to flip. She caught on purty fast. The bite was purty tough for a nice March day but we did manage to catch about 12 fish on the black and brown jigs. The better fish seemed to come off the wind blown rock banks. Best fish was a 7+ flipped on a brown jig-n-pig. I also had a couple of firsts as I fliped about a 6 pound Talapia carp, fatest little gold fish I ever seen, it hit hard and literally gave up when I crossed her eyes with that CGR664! Came to the boat like a ballon. Steve also flipped a channel catfish about 6-7 pounds and they were both excited to be taking home some dinner. It turned out ta be a gorgeous day, with hopes that the spring bite is coming.

Report: Fished rom 1:00 to 5:00 in the aternoon. Mainly went out to dial in the new X-85 I put on. Boy I love this unit. Caught a 10lb limit in about 2 hours and then graphed the rest o the time. The small males and some small emales have moved up. All about 1.5lb - 2.5lb. They are repositionioning themselves daily on the points as the chase baitish and crawdads. (they were on the sides o the points today) Biggest ish came on jigs, numbers came on plastics. The wind is helping the bite.
