Report: Not knowing much about lake, had a fathers day tourney. Tried all reaction we could throw and not a thing, had to go to drop shot in about 15-30 feet and 7 dinks 1 keeper for a 6 hr day. 35+ boats and I think only 27 out of that weighed something. Jigs and senkos for the top weights. Hot day on the water and the lake is letting out a foot a day probably didn't help.

Report: Tough for me today. I'm not much of a big-fish hunter;rather, I like big numbers of fish.Today was really tough for me to get alot of bites, but the ones that did were pretty big.
      City: san jose

Tips: Carolina straight-tail worms did the trick today. Was hoping for crankbaits and jerkbaits bite but no love.

      Water Temp: 70

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Was hoping to get out and throw some frogs for the first time this year on the Delta, but the wind was crazy and I didn't feel like burning the gas to find protected areas. Cranked wind-blown rock walls and whacked them on falling tide. No big fish, but had my limit of keepers in the first 35 minutes. Ended up with about 20 fish between 1.5 to 3 lbs before 10 a.m. At slack tide, wind still howled, so I tied on the biggest, loudest double blade buzz bait I had. Quickly got a chunky 5 pounder, then couldn't get anything else to take the buzz bait. Did get just a couple more and lost a couple on Senkos. All & all, a great day.

Report: We started fishing around 7:30pm to the left of the first dock on the left side. We caught 4 trout on white power eggs and nightcrawlers, would've had 5 but he got away. They were all about 1.5 to 2lbs. Didn't see anybody on the dock catchin anything. Tried for bass with a senko, didn't catch any.
      City: Fremont

Tips: Get some Pro Cure attractant. Trophy Trout or Crawfish and Garlic flavor work well.

      Water Temp: 75+/-

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Put in at Redbud, about 6:30 AM. Ten fish during the day; a 7, two 5's, a 4, and the rest smaller. Several yanked out of the reeds. Having 101 pound thrust trolling really helps. Caught several under docks. Shade patterns paid off. Green pumpkin Senkos wacky rigged drop shot were effective. You do have to work to get the good ones. I saw the biggest bass I ever seen (in the teens) swimming in about 3 feet of water near docks. I'm probably fortunate he didn't bite on my flimsy pole with eight pound test.
      City: Esparto

Tips: On sunny days bass are smart enough to find shade. They also like to choose places where they feel like they won't get bothered. If you want to catch them, you need to think like a bass. I couldn't get anything going with topwater. That bite should be coming. I really thought it would be there in the morning, (before sun-up). I was too late!

      City: Diamond Springs

Tips: bring lots of senkos they dont last to long the fish chew em up pretty good,

Report: Normally fish delta or McClure. No topwater to speak of. Most fish were clone 12 inchers weighing in at a whopping half pound. We caught alot, maybe 30 or so on finesse worms Aarons Magic color. All were very small though. This was our first time here though. Fish caught were small and largemouth, but 9 out of ten were largemouth. Saw Gills on old bass beds, so spawn is done at this lake. My question is this, WHERE ARE THE BIG ONES? For all you veterans of this lake. We were kind of thinking we would look for big smallmouth but didn't find the technique to single them out. We went to the river channel and found the colder water but only found smaller smallmouth. Can somebody that fishes this lake regular please tell me where the big ones are, Large OR smallmouth? Are there any "honey holes?"? Catch and release here, so don't worry about your fish being gone next time you go out. djsupanova1@yahoo.com
      City: Hayward

Tips: Aarons Magic finesse with brass and glass (try to distinguish between the bluegill bites (WHICH ARE MANY)) or as always.... Watermelon Seed Brush Hawgs Texas style. No Topwater in the spots WE fished early morning, but we are not too familiar with the lake.

Report: Redwood Empire Bass Club held its annual tournament/family picnic-BBQ at Lake Sonoma on June 14th 2008. We had 7 teams in the event and nearly 50 folks at the picnic. First place was won by Steve Adams & John Hatfield with 15.31 lbs and 6.59lb big fish. 2nd was Craig Stewart & Josh Peterson with 15.20lbs and 6.10 2nb big fish. 3rd place was Jon & Jerod Adams with 12.67lbs. A lot of fish were caught on senkos around wood and cranking mud lines but the bigger fish were caught early on top water. 1st and 2nd big fish were caught on opposite arms of the lake so you should be able to do well wherever you go.
      City: Santa Rosa

Tips: The next tournament for the Redwood Empire Bass Club will be at Clear Lake July 19th & 20th and that

Report: Took the wife out for a few hours this evening till dark. Caught topwater fish, fluke fish and senko fish. Nothing over 3lbs. All in all was a good 3 hours. Topwater bite is on early morning and late evening. Throw spooks, sammys, and of course frogs. On windy days the blade bite has been consistent bluegill pattern baits. Finally was able to get out and fish.

Report: Started the morning out of Beacon throwing topwater and spinnerbait, stuck a few fish between 3-4 lbs before the sun came out. Once the reaction bite slowed, decided to switch it up to what everyones talking about. Proceeding to catch two 5's and an 8 to fill my limit. Who thought a bed bait could get'em in deeper weedlines. Ended up with around 24.5lbs for best 5.
      City: Brentwood

Tips: Get em on topwater early, start working slower big baits in deeper channels later on.

Report: I left the Oaks ramp with 3 clients this morning at 6:15 am - on Friday the 13th! One strike. After getting them going, I tried to fish a different color Senko to see if that would work for them. Strike two - I caught a 5 1/4 on the first cast - a no no. Luckily, there was no third strike as my clients all caught several bass in the first hour including one at 4 1/2 lbs. They absolutely rocked for the rest of the day, boating nearly 40 bass! And yes, the guy in the back of my Ranger caught the most! He was insane in the afternoon, catching nothing under 3 lbs - amazing! He had the earlier 4 1/2 also. And let me tell you what he was using - I told him I would report this, har!! He had a vintage 2 piece Ugly Stik with an ancient Mitchell 300 reel and who knows what kind of line! The bass loved him, or maybe felt sorry for him!!! I got a good workout running to the back of the boat all day netting his fish while bumping into the others! He used a green pumpkin baby Brush hog most of the day. Bass were all over it. One of the other fellows was Senkoing (#301,330,912,921) all day and the other fishing green pumpkin worms. They all did an excellent job of setting the hook (they lost very few) and working their baits thru the heavy weeds that are now everywhere. I really didn't pay attention to our best five limit, but it was in the 20 lb range for sure. I never thought I would ever say this again, but about 1 pm I was saying "where is the wind to cool us off?!!" "Where are the 3 foot swells?!" Great day at Clear lake except for hot seats and rod locker handles!
      City: Yuba city

Tips: I had them fishing shadows along Hwy 20 as long as they would last - bass were very active and shallow. We worked our way up to Sea Breeze which was absolutely dead for us. Maybe that was during the dead period. I told them that the morning bite would probably slow for an hour or two and then resume. That is exactly what it did for us. We then moved to the lower lake arm and proceeded to fish heavy weed areas. We didn't have much success in areas that didn't have a lot of weeds. We didn't see many bass - they must have been deep in the weeds. We did see one - had to be a carp. Nope, a 8+ lb cruising bass! Light penetration is amazing now since the water is so clear. If we get a heat spell, the lake may get some color. The guys were just casting their baits (with Smelly Jelly) into the weeds (underwater, not floating), dragging them slowly, and catching one after another. Fun to watch! I am a little concerned that I am not seeing any small bass. I have heard that from others too. Hmmmm. I think all of our bass were caught from 2 to 10 feet. While my clients were doing their thing in the early morning I threw a crankbait for awhile - nothing! The bass wanted plastic.

Report: Lakes turning on good. Shad and craw cranks working well dropshoting purp and shad. Hitting well in the Am and after 3 Pm. Swim bait in money fish white and shad also working well. Slow rolling blades along the bottom works great.
Talked to the rangers and the lake will be dropping a bit but, they hope to slow down the out take. It's nice to have some time to be back on this lake as I love it for it's big fish. Looking forward to being back on Tuesday.
      City: Fresno

Tips: Just about anything goes right now as long as it's slow.

Bassman I said the first time in three months because I spend a LOT of time out of town in tournaments. I have about a million hours on this lake and a BUNCH of big fish I to do my homework. Get over yourself.

Report: Suprisingly, water only 73 degrees for June! Hot few days, but decent fishing. We caught a total of 12 fish. 1-12", many 2-3 pounders and 1-5 pounder. Couple on crankbaits in shad or baby bass patterns and everything else on worms. Clear, Purple and greenish colors. No spinnerbait action and no topwater action. On 3rd launch ramp, water level slowly going down.
      City: Pacific Grove

Tips: Early and Late bite... daytime is SLOW in the heat. Bring plenty of ice.
